I know it is time to talk about the Giants but I just got a chance to watch the Panthers game last night and I wanted to jot down some thoughts about what I saw.

I have to give some judos to the offensive line, particularly Zack Martin and Tyron Smith. Now we see how much the injuries to these two guys hurt last year. Watching Steele, I saw mistakes here and there that resulted in failed plays. He is playing much better than I expected but when they get Collins back the offense is going to be even better.

Dak is uncanny good this year. His decisions are quick and correct. his throwing accuracy is the best he has ever been.

I know this is going to sound crazy but the Cowboys offense did not have its best day against the Panthers, and they still racked up 36 points. This offense is really good, even when they make mistakes.

They need to come up with some better 2 point conversion plays.

The defense is what worries me. They give up a lot of 3rd and 4th and long plays. They give up too many 10-12 yard runs. The turnovers save them. They have some of the same problems this year that they had last year. At some point some team is going to exploit this defense. Good offenses are going to give them some problems.

Golston looks like he has a lot of potential, but he looks like a rookie at times too. Lawrence will tighten up that run defense a bit. So will Gallimore (I hope).

If I was an opposing offense, I would not throw at Diggs. Diggs is not a smother type of CB that shuts down the best receivers, but he is always a threat to pick the ball off because he has great eyes and anticipation. The rest of the Cowboys DBs, especially Anthony Brown, are pretty average. I would pick on them all day.

I have no idea what the Cowboys were doing in the 4th quarter. They were playing some of the backups the entire quarter. Why? There was plenty of time. It looked like a lot of mental mistakes were made on the Panthers final two drives. Because the scrubs were playing?

How good are the Panthers? I never thought their defense was that good. They have some talent but I think their stats were more a product of who they played. Their offense is legit though. They are as good as Darnold plays, although the OL is not great. The Eagles are going to beat the Panthers this week.

I came away impressed with the Panthers and thought they looked like a pretty good team. Keep in mind they were without McCaffrey.

I think they are a sleeper team in the NFC and next year could be really good.

Their defense is good. Only a few teams will be able to line up and run on them like we did last week, which took them out of their comfort zone. If their defense can keep the opposition in 2nd/3rd & longs, they hold the advantage due to their scheme and overall team speed. If they have Gilmore, Horn and Jackson at CB all healthy by December, they'll be a freaking nightmare to face for most teams in the NFC.

Obviously they will need McCaffrey and Darnold healthy as well...

Good post. Good points, although many have been made already. Not a knock, just saying.

Can't disagree with any of it.....if Diggs wasn't injured on those final drives....except I've got Carolina beating Philly.

Fat Mike, DQ, and Kellen have these guys believing.

That Panthers game should've been a rout, and we were missing like 7 or 8 starters.

Love what I'm seeing from the young guys on defense. I think it's naive to say we have a great defense but they're playing opportunistic football and that can win you a championship (09 Saints).

Let's take it to The GMen Sunday.

The season Green Bay won a Super Bowl with McCarthy, they lost a record number of starters.

McCarthy is known to put a big emphasis on depth and the readiness of the depth players.

If anything came from the Panthers game to learn from. Was that 4th quarter. Maybe a little bit of a wake up call for future games.

Like Zeke said, they need to choke them out at that point.

The defense will get better as they get their injured guys back and the younguns get more experience. The offense has been carrying the team right now so that is great. That was what i was hoping for at the beginning knowing this defense was not going to be at its best right off the start. They took their foot off the pedal in the 4th quarter and let Carolina get close, cannot happen again. Finish the game. All in all, all systems go. giants next victim.

they don't, bad strategy, FAN Brains..smh:muttley::facepalm:

17 games to play, you do NOT WEAR OUT players that you can afford to pull and get rest..facts they are playing the long game not appeasing fans by wining by a lot..this isnt about stats or pretty wins!

the refs actually let them back in with 2 bad calls one on each of the last 2 drives..both on 3rd down if memory serves me correctly i mean that Kazee hit lit up teh stadium, i was there, it was 3rd down was not only going to be punt but doubt then score again had that stood. Defense and fans were so let down over that call and they lost bit of focus..

get over it win by 1 is the goal..get out healthy 2nd goal,

RG and Diggs both pulled to not have them hurt further.if the games was still in play, they could have stayed in..

also this is garett way of thinking from you all i remember when he nearly always left starters in all games even letthem play meaningless games instead of allowing this very rare opportunity to allow backups to get good snaps..

UMM KKKK??

it was a route 36-14 with 12mins to play..refs bad calls allowed them to have shot but it was an illusion they had zero chance of coming back..ZERO

Man why do you respond like you take my post personal. I am not some dumb fan. My post do have merit, or many of them do.

My comment was that they could learn from that, and a player, a very well respected player even said that.

UMM KKKK?

But yet they were within 8 points with a lot of time left.
What if that flip to Pollard from Zeke was off the mark, and a defensive player were able to recover it, or worse, take it to the house.
What if Zeke had to keep it, if the toss was not here, as he was not going to make the 1st down. Therefore punting with 2 minutes left. And the defense sure wasn't making any stops at that point. Or was that 4th down, I can't remember.

It was a high risk high reward play and it worked. However what if it did not work, but we still won, we would be screaming for Moore's head. Just imagined if they went on to score a TD.

Bad calls by the refs or not, it happened.

it wasnt close..we would have put our foot back in it if NEEDED..was NOT NEEDED.

anyone who watched that AND THOUGHT IT WAS A CLOSE FINISH AS IF THEY HAD CHANCE TO COME BACK, A REAL CHANCE..WELL you weren't watching ..

theres no ifs and butts game was under control form the start of the 3rd to the last victory kneel down.i was there in person and it never felt as if they would come back even with the aide of the refs that sparked those last 2 drives..

I WAS WATCHING...I did not say it was a close game, but they came back to within reason of having a chance to score again. What is so hard to realize about that concept?

It is like you are taking it personal because some do not agree with you. Yes Dallas dominated, but not at the end score wise. And last I knew the score is what counts. And the only real thing that counts.
How many times have we seen Dallas be the better on field team, but yet they found a way to lose at the end.

how often did dak do that last year in losses and this place called them all garbage yards and said " the score was not as close as it seemed and really didnt count, the game was decided at 36-14 nothing after matters to me at all..nor to coaches

rankings, stats, fluffy stories, blowouts those are strictly for FANs....

the coaches coach for the long game, that 17 games and the playoffs they need to make sure players are rested when they can be..they also need to get other players some live snaps, they also play soem prevent to keep the 3 scores from ever being achieved ie make them eat the clock..eagles and Carolina game both had similar finishes that killed stat lines and made the score closer..both games outcomes were never in questions..

Another Crazy thought of mine. It is Parsons who has the young guys playing like they are. His enthusiasm is bleeding over to the rest of the team. Then there is Diggs' confidence. Together they are the ingredient that has been missing all these years.

It was a closer game that it should have been. Imagine of Pollard did get the 1st down on the Zeke pitch. btw, why didn;t the use that play on one of their two 2 pt conversion attempts?

McCaffery makes life so much easier for Darnold and WRs
Not only does the defense totally lock in on CMC, but he's a great outlet if the QB is getting too much pressure.
