Panthers will interview Norv Turner for OC

When was the last time Norv had success as an OC? He quit on the Vikings because he thought he was going to get fired and probably would have. He lasted one year in SF as an OC, one year in Cleveland and quit mid season his second year with the Vikings. He’s out of touch with today’s game.

His success as a coordinator came 25 years ago with an offense that had 4 Hall of Famer’s on it. Most of the best OCs out there are younger, innovative coaches. Norv is still trying to live off what he did 25 years ago with the Cowboys. We’ll see how it works out with Carolina.

Your making stuff up.. first of all it was year 3.. second, his last time he has success was when he was with the Vikings. They were 5-2 when he left and proceeded to lose 6 of their last 9 without him.

And our offense was garbage with Schula running it with that same cast and when Norv left the deterioration started..

He hasn’t had a QB with an arm and this potential since Rivers and a TE like Gates with Olsen..

not that big of a loss. even if he came here, i doubt hed have enough to challenge JG. Id rather a younger guy who maybe can relate to JG and get him to come over to his side. The winning side.
You are asking a lot, lol.

I’m not making anything up I got the number of years wrong. He had two full seasons as OC in Minnesota and quit midway through his third season because things weren’t going well. He didn’t have any success with the Vikings I told you they ranked 27th in total offense in 2014 and 29th in 2015. It was getting worse every year and he bailed. Our offense was far from garbage after he left.

We ranked 8th in total offense in 94 and 5th in 95. How is that garbage? We were in deep decline after 95 so don’t try and spew Norv would have saved us. You can make excuses for him all you want his day came and went long ago. If you want to continue wasting time defending him carry on.

Sports radio just said john Gruden is now H.C. for Oakland for 10 years@ 100 million dollars,,,o_O

I don’t think so.. the other one as far as I last read is working at dad’s restaurant now..

Yep he is, he should of been in the food industry from the beginning. A complete joke as a OC in Dallas and a HC in Cincy. The only reason he became the OC in Dallas in 89-90 was Jimmy wanted Dave Wanstead as his DC and he had the left the U to join Don Shula's staff in Miami. Shula basically told him I'll let you have Wanstead but your going to return the favor and take my son on as your OC.

Something does not add up here. Norv has always been known as a stand up guy so this doesn't make sense to me. I heard an interview he did less than a year ago. He wouldn't go into specifics about what happened in Minnesota but said he was done with coaching. He felt a lot of guilt and regret about spending decades chasing his coaching dreams but had pretty much been MIA with his family and his wife had basically spent her whole life moving from place to place and being alone. They bought a nice beach house here in San Diego and he was content and wanted to make up for lost time with his family. If he went back into the NFL that interview makes him look less than stellar.

Strange hire for the Panthers and not a guy I see working well with Cam Newton either.

Norv could be what Cam and Carolina needs to push them towards the goal of winning the Superbowl

Turner was great at the right time and moment in Cowboy history, but that was a long time ago, and his track record hasn't been that impressive since.

Another teams 90’s offense is our treasure?

I’d rather them bring in a guy who was a bit younger and hungrier.

I don’t get you wacky kids sometimes.

Agree.

I think he's a great QB coach but in 2017 I don't want him calling my plays.

Norv lasted one season in Cleveland as their OC and two seasons in Minn in 2014 and 2015. The Vikings offense ranked 27th and 29th. Norv’s day came and went a long time ago.
please look at the awful O-line Minn. had as the reason his Offense failed. They invested in it this year and let AP walk.

Norv hadn’t had success as an OC since he left the Cowboys in 93. He quit on the Vikings during the season. When’s the last time you heard of a coordinator quitting during a season? Part of a coordinators job is to figure out ways to have success despite injuries and issues you may face.
