Panthers WR Samuel likely out this week after minor heart procedure

It looks like their offensive linemen are back however. Except Kalil obviously.

Practicing in walk throughs is a far cry from playing. They were making the decision whether to ir him Sunday because he still has a 4 to 6 week recovery. But hey, they want to put him out there vs Lawrence who am I to argue!

Can any proceedure that involves the heart really be considered "minor"? I guess relatively speaking to other heart problems...

Probably had a Catheter Ablation Procedure done to the heart. They determine via a multi-million dollar machine why the electrical signal in the heart isn't working as it should (normally because its bypassing a normal circuit) and go in a burn a small hole in the heart that blocks that irregular circuit path from being used by the heart again. That causes it to divert back to the original (i.e. normal) path and problem solved. After the procedure they want to watch you for a few days to make sure everyone worked as it should. They will often run as stress test after a few days to insure the heart circuit continues on the correct path. PS. I had the same thing done. Worked for me and I'm an old fart.

"Burn a small hole in the heart" sounds terrifying!

I saw that. Their RT somehow miraculously found god and got healthy lol

Always happens this way. Other teams injured become healthy the week we play them.
Oh well, Just have to beat them at their best regardless.

Yeah, that's the only thing I could think of. Assume it's to the atria.

Nothing is simple. I had ablation for afib in 2008 and the guy pierced my heart and almost killed me. New robot stuff too..though that may have been an issue. I bled out so much they told me wife I might have brain damage. Fortunately a stud in Houston, Dr Michael Reardon cut me open and stitched the hole. My wife was pregnant with our second so no fun for a “day procedure.”

I’m excited to finally see D.J. Moore play after I spent an entire offseason hyping him up.
