Not too much of interest...

FS will be a gametime decision.

Will punt returner be the same as last week? Probably, yeah.

Actually talked for a while about Hoyte at FB... Said he's pretty tough and a pretty good athlete, and he did play the position in high school. He gives more special teams plays than Polite did. (I guess Hoyte is more than just a goalline/short yardage FB now.)

How did Hostetler's first appearance compare to Tony's? Jeff was third string, in his sixth or seventh year, and they lost Jeff Rutledge to the Skins in Plan B, so Hoss moved up. He came in and played the last two or three games, plus he had the first-round bye week to get ready.

Asked about Tony's height, he said Tony is "tall enough". All QBs have to throw through space in the D-line, and he thinks Tony is pretty good at creating that space.

Cowlishaw asks if Parcells is more optimistic about Romo than others are, says he honestly doesn't know. Just needed to try something different at this time. (Same generic talk as yesterday.)

Said the effort on defense wasn't a problem, but agreed with a reporter that maybe they weren't passionate enough at times. Didn't think that defense the other night was the same defense we'd been up to now.

Asked if his grade of "average" on the pass rush yesterday was less about the third down rush and more about the other downs, he said "I'd like to see more on first down."

Asked if T.O.'s drop was a momentum swinger against the defense (as we gave up the long drive after that), said a lot of things like that happen in games. Just have to do a better job about combating them.

Are the three road games in a row unfair? I don't know, I know the Eagles have three road division games at the end of the year... That's tough, too.

Hmm, I think that was about it.

Was there a change in momentum on that 4th down drop?
There are a lot of things in games that affect the outcome. That was a missed opportunity. There were some others. I just don't think we deserved to win that game the way we played.

I love that he worded it that way. Same way TO worded it when he talked about the Philly game.

I'll stop right there cuz I don't want to turn this thread into some kind of debate, but I'll just let you all use your imaginations on that one.

The stuff about Hostettler:
Said he had Simms, Rutledge and Hos. 1st 6 or 7 years, Hos didn't see any or very much action being the 3rd guy. Rutledge left on Plan B FA.
So around the 12th game or so when Simms got hurt is when he really seen any true action. So by the time the SB came, he was really only getting like his 5th NFL start.

Haven't we done the LB converted to FB experiment before? Someone remind me what a stunning success that was?

How about a real FB at FB? What a concept.

We did the D-lineman to FB experiment before (Spears in on goalline situations). I don't remember it being either a success or a failure.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought of that.

Though, I think Parcells may be just meddling, trying to play games with Owens like he does with other players (in a "positive" manner).

We've used "real FB's as FB's too and that hasn't worked out real well. Besides, in our two TE offense the FB is only on the field ocassionally anyway. Hoyte playing FB prevents us from wasting a fulltime roster spot on a parttime player who isn't very strong on special teams.

Thomas was actually pretty effective his first year at the position and then just started to gain an inordinate amount of weight after that.

Jenkins is a big wide body that is hard to move. He's in the middle 300s. But you know if you can try and move him a littlbe bit, sometimes you can get to the perimeter and people like that have a hard time.

Rollouts and stretch plays here we come!

You wouldnt think it would be that hard of a position.. tough, but not all that hard.

I mean when it comes to knowing how to do it. Too many times with the guys we have chose to do it, all they do is run into the back of o-linemen half the time.. or so it seems. Uh, this just in, thats not doing the play any good. ;)

Oh joy. Even more conservative. :banghead:
I don't see what the problem is. Can we really say that being more conservative is what has been costing us these games? I mean it is the turnovers, mainly the interceptions, that have been KILLING us. Our running game is still our bread and butter.
