Parcells and Jerry made bet on how many sacks Ware would average

Ware, who has 115, picked up the magic sack in the third quarter.

"I will never forget it, Bill (Parcells) and I made a bet when we drafted him and had a little fun with it, and I think of it every time I think of his numbers of sacks," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "I can’t say it’s unexpected because of how hard he works and his talent level and just his competiveness, it doesn’t surprise me at all that he can do this. How many did he get today? Two, OK."

Jones said the bet involved if Ware didn't average a certain number of sacks in the first five years of his career, Parcells would get five free rides on Jones' private jet, a G-5. Ware also broke a tie with Sean Jones for sole possession of 17th place on the all-time sack list. Ware also has the club lead with 28 games of multiple sacks.

I had actually forgotten about the record. I knew he was tied with Harvey Martin, but I was so busy celebrating the sack that I forgot he was the all-time leader. In this defense he may be poised for many more.

The anecdote came from Jerry's interview on DC.com. I think it involved 'going somewhere with Bill's significant other, without Bill along.' But it was in Jerry-speak, and garbled. I think he unintentionally made it sound less appropriate than it probably was. I also may have misunderstood it entirely.
The bet was an over-under bet on the minimum number of sacks DW would get each of his first however-many years. It wasn't clear from context who won, but it had to have been Jerry, given how productive Ware's been.
