I guess he really is retired for good from coaching; this was about as sweet a setup as one could ask for in a lot of ways.

I'd be shocked if they don't hire from within, especially without all the crap going on..who would want to walk into that situation? Schottenheimer? :laugh2:

It seemed wrong (to me) that Payton would have been allowed to choose his own replacement when he's supposed to be suspended. And there's no way Payton would have refrained from communicating with BP during the suspension. IMO.

I think the Saints would have been the Thanksgiving Day game had Parcells agreed to take over. The storyline would just be too good. Don't think that will happen now, though.
