—LB DeMarcus Ware has six sacks this year but has not been the dominating performer the Cowboys expected, especially considering they passed on Shawne Merriman in the same draft. Coach Bill Parcells said he is going to be a good linebacker, but doesn't think he will ever be a future Lawrence Taylor.

"I'm looking to get a solid linebacker who they have to be aware of that from time to time can create pressure on the quarterback but that's not his fulltime job," Parcells said. "He doesn't have enough stamina to do that. He's not physically imposing enough to do that on a 100 percent basis and he never will be."

Oh wow they took what he said in his PC yesterday and spun the hell out of it.

That is exactly the opposite of what he was saying.

Agreed.

This is a hack job.

Can't remember what he said in the PC, but we all know thats not Parcells... Parcells does not like players to get a lot of hype but he flat out will not say players particularly those as talented as Ware will not ever do something he once expected from them.

He basically told the media that being able to sack the QB is only 30% of what he expects from him.

He told them that he wants Ware to do a lot more than just get sacks. He wants him to be a Balanced Linebacker.

Where on earth they came up with this other garbage about him is beyond me.

The guy who reported this has ZERO Moxie.

Exactly Catch. Parcells basically said you guys (fans/media) want just a dominant pass rusher ... while he wants a complete LB who can do it all. I'd say Ware did it all in the Colts game.

Total hack job.

Yep, all Bill said was he can't go after the QB 100% of the time. Typical garbage spin against the Cowboys. OBTW, we'll see what Roidman can donow. Double doses of HGH?

As has been mentioned, that's a terrible intepretation of what Parcells said. It implies that Ware has been a disappointment and will never be anything better than "a good linebacker." But Parcells was explaining that Ware HAS NOT been a disappointment and that the media isn't looking at the same things that the coaches are. And Lawrence Taylor was never even mentioned in the entire discussion.

Here was Parcells' actual quote (I trimmed out the middle, when he talked about body clocks and intangibles and Dat Nguyen) --

"DeMarcus is doing fine. ... You have to recall that he was a, really, a smaller-college player playing a different position, tearing up the field like a wild dog. I mean that's what he did, and now you've got to try to convert him into a good overall linebacker. And the problem that I think you guys are having is that you're wanting to see a dynamic pass-rusher, and I'm wanting to see a linebacker. And that's the difference. So you guys are judging are everything by sacks, and I'm judging about 30 percent of it by pass-rush ability. So that's the difference between how I'm looking at it. So I'm looking to get a solid linebacker who they have to be aware of that from time to time can create pressure on the quarterback. But that's not his full-time job. He doesn't have enough stamina to do that. He's not physically imposing enough to do that on a 100-percent basis, and he never will be."

I have never read anything in the USSR Today that I have ever believed or trusted. And here is another example of it.

yeah, that's why he compared Ware to LT when he 1st came here

I thought Bill said he reminds me of another #56. I don't remember him ever comparing him to Taylor.

Welp. I've said it before and I'll say it again......
I'l take what Ware is doing as opposed to a 12 sack guy. Go and look at the goal line stand against the Colts. Watch him take his guys out from his LB position. That isn't an isolated incident either. The kid is great. In all aspects of his position.
