How much of a distraction would it be if BP would just say "I will be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys Next year."? It is an easy question if he plans on returning.

It becomes a thorn in his side and a distraction to the team if he is considering retirement. BP has made this question bigger than what it actually is. He trusted Mort and Mort gets paid to do a job. BP wants to retire. The question now becomes will his pride allow him to retire. Mort broke the story and BP was not happy about it. But as Mort said "I didn't expect him to be."

Please tell me I'm wrong. Tell me that there are other reasons behind the fact that BP will not come out and say he is gong to be the HC next year. Why would he risk the distraction of not answering the question?

Hopefully, Jerry is already talking with Jimmy Johnson about a 5 year 30 million dollar contract. It would be money well spent.

I'd say the chances are better than 50/50 that he retires.

I can smell it. At best, one more year...no extension.

Whether you're a Parcells supporter or not, one thing that is undeniable about him...he LOVES this stuff...he has never left a franchise in a calm, constructive manner....I am hoping the Dallas Cowboys will be the exception..we'll see.

The same reason he won't talk about which guy is starting at which position next week.
Or who he plans on drafting.
Or who he's working out next week.
Or how good he thinks a certain player is.

Why?

Because he has conditioned himself, through many many years of being shafted by the media, to say nothing when you don't have to say anything.

Simply put...The fans and media are on a "Need To Know" basis and his retirement plans don't qualify as that....

Parcells will speak when he chooses to. That is Bill Parcells and how he conducts himself.

Now, let's focus on making the post season this weekend and giving the NFC a run for the superbowl in THIS season!!

bill is having too much fun with this team to consider retiring.

but he has a huge EGO. after all the "fire parcells" cries after the washington fiasco, this is bill's way of saying: OK is this really what you want? do you know what you'll be missing? of course this rumor came out after a win. had it come out after the washington loss the fan base would have asked when instead of why.

don't think for a minute that this guy is not aware of his fan approval.

BP was just asked if this was his last coaching job, to which he immediately responded, "Yes."
