Wonder how that line "I'm too old for thugs" holds now that his FB just assaulted a guy with his girlfriend and left him unconcious. From what I've read, it sure sounds like he was the aggressor.

Parcell's unwritten rule about signing former teams players away kind of fell by the wayside with Keth Davis and some other Cowboy almosts. Then of course, maybe he ditched that philosophy after he took Vandershank over Viniteri

Guess we'll see how deep the Dolphins are at FB.

[Sarcasm] Yeah, but you forgot BP isn't running the Dolphins. That's Ireland's job. Right? [/Sarcasm]

So he picked up the guys girlfriend and hit him over the head with her? Dunno, sounds kinda ol' skool to me. I'd take a flyer on him. :)

Dolphins Fullback Charged With Battery

Regan Mauia Accused Of Punching Man In Face

POSTED: 1:20 pm EDT April 11, 2008

WESTON, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins fullback Reagan Mauia was arrested early Friday morning by the Broward Sheriff's Office on a charge of misdemeanor battery.

According to the arrest affidavit, the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Carolina Ale House, located at 2618 Weston Road, just before midnight.

Mauia, 23, punched a man in the face, "causing the victim to pass out and fall to the ground," according to the affidavit.

The victim's girlfriend and another man who were standing in the parking lot when the 6-foot, 270-pound Mauia walked by witnessed the incident, according to the affidavit.

"Mauia asked the victim, Michael Gianatassio, what the f--- he was looking at," the affidavit states. "Gianatassio said he wasn't looking at anyone. Mauia became upset and said, 'You should know,' as he approached Gianatassio. All of a sudden, Mauia punched Gianatassio in the face with a closed fist."

He then allegedly drove away in a black Cadillac Escalade, but not before a witness took a picture of the license plate with a cell phone camera. A deputy ran the tag and went to the listed address with the witness.

Mauia came to the door and "denied that he was at the Ale House," the affidavit states. The witness positively identified Mauia as the man who hit Gianatassio.

The deputy arrested Mauia and transported him to a Broward County jail, where he was held on $1,000 bond. He bonded out Friday morning.

A team official told Local 10 the Dolphins can't comment until they learn more about the incident.

Mauia was a rookie last year from the University of Hawaii.

He'll be released by tomorrow. The witnesses say he flipped out over nothing.

Maybe he's on medication - or the roidy-roids.

Someone at his size punching someone of normal size could almost be considered assault with a deadly weapon.

There's a reason I don't go to bars anymore.

You dont' go to bars because you're afraid of getting punched by professional football players? Lame...that's half the fun! :)

He is going to be realeased tommorow I would put down a few buck on that; he was a sixth rounder, and an idiot by the sound of things.

Where I live is a hotbed for people being stabbed for bars let out.

Part of my occupation is taking care of people with traumatic head injuries and a fair number are the result of assaults - often stemming from barfights.

Anyhow, I'm past that stage of my life - just too damn old! :laugh2:

It's also a good way to finance an early retirement... just stand around in bar parking lots (or better still, strip club parking lots), and stare at the really big guys goin' in and out, pretty soon one of 'em will be an NFL player in a bad mood, and you're set for life...

Reportedly Parcells told some people that after looking at the Dolphins game tape there are only 4-5 players on the entire roster he considers NFL caliber, and I'm going to assume Reagan Mauia isn't one of them ... so I could definitely see him getting released.

Parcells did take some chances on questionable characters in Dallas ... notably Abram Elam and Leo Carson. I think Parcells biggest pet peeve is that players today have too many hangers on. People whispering in their ear how the team is holding them back, how they could rack up bigger individual stats if they were allowed to freelance outside of the system, etc. I think Parcells wouldn't touch people like Pac Man who seemingly get in trouble because they surround themselves with shady characters. Guys who just make a one time, stupid personal decision he like Abram he might be more willing to give another chance.

Davis isn't a thug. He showed poor judgment but he's not a thug.

On the field he's solid in his role (which is correctly ST leader and backup SS) and in the locker room he's a solid citizen and leader.

Not Mauia's fault.
He was probably just raised by thugs.

I hope he can turn his life around.
Good luck, thug!

To an extent. Elam's story borders on being at the wrong place/wrong time in many ways. Carson's kidnapping/burglary was pretty bad and he may have not been released simply due to not having anyone else that could play DT.

FB's can be found quite easily - look at the gamut of guys we've gone through lately (Martin/Polite/Hoyte). What's Richie Anderson up to?

The problem is you don't even have to go to a bar to have an altercation any more. Some of you may have seen BrainPaint teasing me now and then about a crack head in an alley. About 2 or 3 years ago on my oldest daughter's birthday we threw her a party. While the party was still going on I took out the trash.

As I got to the alley there was a man dressed all in black out there and as I was throwing the trash in the dumpster he approached me in a rather threatening manner. I quickly threw the trash in the dumpster and turned to face him. He stopped about 3 feet from me and I'm telling you there was something about his eyes that just scared the living crap out of me. He just had that wild eyed look.

I simply said, "is there a problem."

Suddenly he drew his hand back with his fist clenched like he was going to throw a punch at me. I figured I just got invited to the dance and I busted the guy right in the mouth and hard. He didn't go down and that scares me even worse. He took his hand and put it to his mouth and then looked at the blood on it. Then without ever saying one single word he gave me this wild eyed stare and he walked away down the alley.

I had never seen the guy before, I've never seen him since, and I do not take the trash out after dark without being armed now. I dang near broke my hand I hit the guy so hard. Him standing there after I did was downright scary. I don't know what he was on but I've never felt safe in that alley ever since that day.

Pretty scary stuff Hos...If he didn't go down after you hit him square in the chops, he must have been completely numb....

The whole "What are you looking at?" attitude is something I have seen more and more these days. My boss and I always wonder why everyone is so angry today. Most people have more things than our parents and grandparents have ever had, yet they are so angry at the world. And they feel they have the right to lash out whenever they feel like without consequences. I am glad someone took a picture of that morons license plate. I know he won't do any time, but for being an idiot, he deserves to do some dirty community work. There was a time when you respected other people and their space, but like Triplet era, that time has passed, sadly...

Right. That happens to me all the time, you just are in the wrong place and all of a sudden you are taking part in a gang rape.
