Parker one the Sideline; Pettine in the Booth

that DC Christian Parker will continue coaching from the sideline and new senior defensive assistant Mike Pettine will be in the coaching booth.

Schottenheimer: “He’s going to be great eyes and ears for (Parker). I really feel like as we worked through the issues through the week, we just felt like that’s the best thing for us.

”Schottenheimer said Pettine has not been at practice this week because he’s been watching film and making notes. He’s been attending all of the team meetings.

“You’re not gonna see him on the field a whole lot. He’s in there just driving and grinding through film. He actually loves that part of it. That’s kind of the way the thing is set up. He’s certainly allowed on the field any time he wants, but he’s maximizing his time kind of getting caught up with what we’re doing as he’s only been here a couple days.”

That is what makes sense to me. Pettine can quickly see what's going on and relay the info. I wouldn't be surprised if Pettine is making the defensive calls. Parker can do what he is used to and that's talk/teach the players on the sideline.

We already know Parker's ability as a DC may be questionable but this also makes his current assistants look bad too. Pettine is just coming in here 5 games into the season and is already going to be heavily relied on and have a lot of influence

I'm just looking for results. I don't care who is where. Or if we have a players only meeting. The one thing I care about is that the players care enough to have a meeting. That's a positive IMO. Because of that I haven't given up on the season. I'm still hopeful.

Seems to me Parker has been demoted and the new guy brought in to take over.

I'm curious, if this idea fails and the defense continues to suck, will we be able to put the poor players vs poor coaching debate to rest? I've been leaning towards bad players....

I think his assistants are just inexperienced. That is where Pettine helps most

Total train wreck. So if the defense vastly improves, we know who is responsible, so why keep CP? If it doesn't, are we gonna keep both of them the rest of the way?
