Man Parker was super impressive in his press conference and has me excited about his potential as a coach and the staff he has built if we can get the talent.

A few things of note:

3-4 Defense: He mentioned this will be the baae but it is borderline irrelevant. Teams played 60% nickel last year and he said we will also play 4-3 and be multiple. His emphasis is adapt to the talent. This wont change FA or draft strategy.

Nickel: He talked a bit about the importance of a quality nickel playwr and how it can be a CB, S or even LBr. Wants someone that can cover, be physical downhill AND be a good blitzer.

I thought nickel was important but after it might be one or his top targets in FA / Draft.

Thought the same thing. War daddy nickel is the most inportant part of of his D. Now does he trust a rookie to come in and be that guy?

IMO we need two new starters, would love to get a guy like Nick cross in FA and draft a Downs/warren/Thieneman

War Daddy Nickel is an elite phrase lol...

I dont love counting on a rookie but we just saw the Seahawks do it.

Downs is the dream.

Based on his press conference I like
LB's Jake Golday Cincinatti, Jack Kelly BYU and Jaishawn Barham Michigan
They are athletic guys, who can play Mike or Sam in a 4-3 or play Edge/OLB in a 3-4 at a high level.

Slot/Big Nickel/Safety
Dillon Thieneman Oregon, Jalon Kilgore South Carolina, Treydan Stukes Arizona, Eric Gentry USC and Jalen Huskey Maryland... Huskey is a guy I am liking more and more for this team.

All of these players are chess pieces. They can play anywhere and will not have to come off the field when scenarios change.

we haven't had great safety play for a long time, its time to invest in that position in the draft.

Outside of Edge MLB and Nickel are the 2 biggest needs IMO.

Downs, Thieneman and Scott seem like the Safety types that would do well as the S Nickel types but I need to watch more.

McDuffie might he available in trade. He is pretty much what you hope Delane becomes and is still only 25

Kilgore has actually played slot CB at a high level

he had a rookie in Philly - Cooper DeJean

Great player but if I had to pick between CB / Edge FA or trade I am going Edge.

We have bodies at CB just need to get healthy and step up.

I dont know what kind of edges are on the trade market. Herbig is a good rusher but pretty one dimensional.

As we have discussed, it is the most important position in his scheme. McMillian might be a player to watch. Parker was a part of his development in Denver. He is a restricted fa, I know Denver wants to keep him, but they also just did draft Barron last yr in the 1st rd. McMillian is considered one of the best slot corners in the game.

Another Cowboy fan I spoke with, said what are your thoughts about Overshown playing that position? Personally, I don't think he is good enough in coverage, but he does checks some of the boxes and is a former safety.

Downs, Styles are ideal fits for this scheme. Realistically, would be great if we could get one of them.

I would probably lean a physical CB for the tole than hoping a Safety would have the man cover chops. JLew type.

Terrell might be a good target if we dont address it in FA.

He is the best nickel in the class, is he big enough?
