Forgive me if this is a stupid thread--I'm not incredibly familiar with O-line players and having a tackle switch to guard. However, I've been hearing that Parnell is looking very good. If he continues to impress, I think he could earn a spot in the starting lineup. With that being said, I doubt he would steal Free's starting job (even if he outplays him), so do you think he could be inserted into one of the starting guard spots? No sense having a starting caliber tackle (something coveted in the NFL) sitting on the bench when you have a lack of starting caliber interior linemen. Is it possible?

I don't know that you want to move Parnell. He played only for a year in college ... and he was a DE. He has so much to learn that you'd just ruin him trying him elsewhere

A bit tall for the position to get the right leverage, already a bit of a hip bender (although not as bad as some others we've had through), would introduce new technique. You want a lower center of gravity and good lower body strength for guard to keep the pocket clean, and he's not a great fit on either dimension.

Probably best to keep developing him at tackle.

that's the plan -- we signed him to a three year deal with some guaranteed money -- he's a guy the team really likes
