Two totally different subjects but I feel they should be combined in one post since I'm viewed by many as the original J-Train hype man..

I've been so disappointed in Jaylon. I was so excited when we drafted him and defended him to the hilt against a myriad of criticism from our own Zoners for months. All criticism that I now feel is warranted. He has an inflated opinion of himself which can occasionally make me want to punch a wall. BUT... I have to say I see shades of leadership in the way he rallies the other guys out there and legitimately appears to be having fun in a crowded LB field. He's highly supportive of the younger LB which takes away a bit of the sting. Hopefully. He can find a way to step it up this year. We need him to do that. Albeit a bit muted nowadays, I'm still rooting for him.

Now... Parsons. This guy appears as if he is going to come out like gangbuster from the first hike of the regular season. I absolutely love his approach! When you're on that field, you have to believe you can beat anyone out there. Even if you can't... That belief is often a major driver in success. Parsons is a pure unequivocal certified ALPHA DOG and his unique combination of athleticism and instincts are going to give OCs nightmares. Lastly, I'll share something from Baldy that I fully subscribe to. Parsons is going to be a big name this year.

Nice post Bleu.

I think what annoys some people about Jaylon is he is the type of player that knows all the pretty words and when to use them. He always tries to put a positive spin on everything and when things are going very poor fans want someone to take responsibility and say they are going to fix it. Jaylon just gives people some pretty saying to brush it off.

Parsons is young. He seems to me like a different type of leader. He is too young and immature to lead the guys with his words. He is the guy in the room everyone knows is ultra talented and will work extremely hard non stop and still want more. His leadership at this stage should come from example.

I like Jaylon and Parsons. I think Jaylon has a place on the team and can be useful to us. If the Broncos didnt take Surtain Jaylon would once again be the center of this LB corp.

Imo the best thing for Jaylon would be to put him in position to do less reading/reacting and just let him attack a certain gap.

Maybe with Parsons and hopefully him taking on more responsibilities early on can at least allow them to limit what Jaylon has to do and at least play closer to what strengths he has.

Of course he’s having fun in a crowded lb room, he’s getting paid millions to watch Parsons do it better

Lol. Can't argue there. It's up to & 9 to prove you wrong this year. Several eyes will be watching closely.

From my two cent opinion what I see is the biggest difference between J. Smith and Parsons is the initial movement: J. Smith seems to pause and 'run in place' waiting for a play to come to him whereas Parsons goes after the play immediately. While there is limited film on Parsons so far, it just seems that Parsons is an attack dog whereas J. Smith is a guard dog....there is a difference and this defense can't afford guard dogs.

Great observation. Instinct. You just can't teach that.

I think Jaylon will do better this year in Quinn's system. If not, the FO should ask him to take a pay cut (but they won't.)

I was concerned his year off would make him rusty. Doesn't appear to be the case. His range is insane.

Jaylon doesn’t “attack” anything.

I hope Micah meets expectations bc you guys are putting a lot on a rookie.

Those expectations were there before the draft and his performance in camp and preseason has only made them greater. Unfortunately when you are touted as the best defensive player in the draft expectations can be overwhelming. Luckily Parsons has zero lack of confidence and he appears to embrace his role.

Parsons is a freak injury away from walking the path of Jaylon Smith. Micah Parsons is what Jaylon Smith once was before his freak injury. So don't tell me these two totally different subjects. They are just different chapters of the same book.
