It would take a massive drop off of viewership related to the poor officiating before the NFL would ever decide to step in and try to correct the problem.

The only real solution is to implement video replay review of possible penalties, something that no one wants because they're afraid it would make the games much longer.
Vikings and Bears are playing right now.

They SUCK. But guess what I'm watching? Yep...Vikings v Bears.

Don't need them. There's no conspiracy, the NFL refs just suck arse and it's a league wide problem.
If you could read I did say it is either corruption or incompetency. No other explanation. The official responsible for making calls at the point of attack is asleep at the wheel. And we have clear video evidence showing the idiots looking away from the critical point of attack. *** could they be looking at?

Most of the refs are successful off the field...

I doubt you'd find a single ref that isn't really well off: many of them get their ref jobs because they rub elbows with people in power and money, which is proof they themselves are usually successful business or professional people. They're in the Good Ole Boy Football Club

So the referree job wouldn't pay as much as their "real job"....and none of them would want to quit their more lucrative day job for a less paying referee job. Plus, the referree job could quickly and abruptly come to an end if they got a bad performance review.

"Well why not hire regular Joe's or guys that referree high school games?" Well...those guys would certainly take the NFL gig, but they'd likely be WAY worse than what we're used to....and the NFL wouldn't do that.

In short....the NFL is making more money than ever....and has networks and streaming sites begging to hand them billions for their product. What motivation do they have to change?
Bingo….it does show the complete incompetence of the commissioner. The numerous blatant miscalls are proof of the pudding.

It’s not just us complaining about obvious bias against Eagles opponents - every fan base knows it and is speaking out.

And ruin Vegas’ ability to fix games.

Not only Parsons on every rush, but in the philly game last evening, a blatant jersey tug on buffalo reception with a camera shot of the incompetent ref looking in the opposite direction when the point of attack is in question. Are any of these blithering, incompetent, and corrupt over paid pieces of refuse doing anything on the field except standing there looking like the idiots and buffoons they are???? What a waste of money. We dont need no stinking refs with this caliber of officiating!!!!
You. Mad. Bro?

"THOSE REF ROBOTS WERE MADE IN PENNSYLVANIA!!!! THEY ARE PROGRAMMED TO CALL 10% MORE PENALTIES ON DALLAS!!!"
Ha ha ha. Good one , no home field advantage, only Dallas made robot in Pennsylvania and vice versa

The NFL literally came out the next year and said it was a catch.
Lol. They literally did not. The same rule was on the books that snared Jesse James of the Steelers 3 seasons later and that offseason they altered the rule to where those 2 plus the Calvin Johnson no-catch would be catches under the new rule, not that they were catches under the old rule and applied incorrectly.

“Refs are out to get us zone “ for some of these folks
From 2000-2022 the numbers would show the folks to be correct. Dallas and Detroit are ranked last in both 100+ penalty seasons (18 each) and 80 or less penalty seasons (each with 0).

That's through several staff and coaching changes for nearly every team except NE, and several player turnovers for all teams involved.

The calls should "even out over time" right? Except they aren't.

And this does not even take into account blatant no calls that are every bit as destructive as bad calls.

Another thread about the officiating.
It does seem like we're getting a lot of them because of Philly's success and some clearly missed calls that could possibly have affected that. I think the fact that that has made it highly unlikely that we can get home-field advantage, and many fans think we have no chance in the playoffs without it, has just got some riled up.

Fans just looking for excuses for why Philly keeps winning. A thread about the officiating was started before we played Philly a few weeks ago with fans already looking for excuses. If some of these fans honestly believe NFL games are rigged, I don’t understand why they waste their time watching football. One fan said the NFL is like professional wrestling, even though you know it’s rigged, he still enjoys it. As for the Cowboys having no chance in the playoffs on the road. Their chances will be very slim at best and it won’t be because of the officiating. We haven’t been in the same team on the road this season.
