Just my opinion and I've thought this from when he was drafted. His speed his phenomenal. I think he could get worn down playing DE. I would like to see a scheme switch to get the best out of him. We're talking about a possible Cowboys all time great here (again in my opinion). He's excellent in coverage and we need to be able to disguise when he is rushing more. I did notice he almost got another sack of Herbert playing OLB in a 5 man front in the first half.

He's a very good LB but can become an outstanding OLB. Let's build our scheme around him

Parson has an elite skill-set for Mike, Will, Sam, DE, and OLB. I would like to see him "free-to-roam" like Lawrence Taylor did "back in the day." Let the man learn the game first and have positive growth each week. He appears to be a generational talent. I was incredibly impressed with his play filling in for both D-ends. OC for opposing teams have to be concerned with his skill-set, eye for the ball, and his elite track-down speed.

Parsons is a QB's nightmare.
Go Dallas!

Excellent post. I watched the same.

Micah Parsons is assigned to playing DE, due to dire circumstances, for the loss of both of our starting DEs. It's not permanent. He'll surely return to his duties as our MLB as soon as possible. Let's be content and enjoy his abilities and flexibility, in the meantime. It'll all be fine, given time. He's being very well utilized by Quinn and his assistants.

It comes down to one question. When building a team over the years to come, where will he be most effective? Not just this year, but in the years to come when other pieces are added.

Build the defense around the kid, however that looks. He could be a one man wrecking crew if unleashed. He is a true havoc linebacker.

I'd seriously consider transition to 3-4. It looks like Odigizuwha might be a nice fit for either D.

Run D is improved a smidge so far as well.

Im not going to overreact to one game. Get some wide bodies up front and he can be a game wrecker in the middle.

I imagine QBs coming to LOS and their first priority, fine # 11 (lol)

He is playing a hybrid role already, Quinn will move him all over the field to create mismatches.

Imo it comes down to how he's used. Imo if it's as a standard off ball Mike/Will/Sam that makes a lot of tackles, that doesn't optimize his best skillset to the team's advantage.
And that's his pass rushing ability.

That should be his primary role going forward.

Anybody who watched yesterday and still thinks Lawrence OR Gregory can get after the QB like that, I really don't know what you were watching.

He's a true Alfa that on the 3rd down MONEY down says you better be looking for me cuz I'm stopping this 3rd down conversion.

It's not even close comparing his get off, closing and short area burst to Gregory and especially not Lawrence.

Imo it would be a big mistake if he's not used in a primary pass rushers role in order to get this team the pass rush it needs for team wins.

He’s a pass rusher with 4.3 speed and that speed shows up on the field.

Having him cover passes and play the run is just a waste. You want this guy chasing QBs and making their internal clock tell them to get rid of the ball a little quicker because 11 is on the field.

I said before and after the draft that he has to impact the pass game or he’s not worth the pick.

Micah Parsons needs to be chasing the QB. All there is to it.

Plain and Simple.
However Quinn needs to tweak it to keep him primarily chasing QBs.

He's the true War Daddy.

Film don't lie.

I haven't seen the snap count but I guess he was on the field as a pass rusher for 75% of the snaps. I don't think you want him rushing every snap, he will get worn down, that's why I think responsibilities in coverage are needed and as he showed yesterday he can also be lined up either right or left.

This kid is a difference maker ....... Long time since we have had one on defense and you can tell the fans have forgotten what one looks like by the reactions.

Don't we already accomodate this as a Hybrid ?
Von Miller has played in 4-3 under ex DC Jack Del Rio .and it didn't detour him from his high sack totals
Lot depends upon the coaches and their schemes that accomodates players skill set .

He did look good doing it. I was surprised they weren't able to expose him more in the run game, but maybe he was only there on passing downs.

No he was a 3 down player.

He’s really not much smaller than Gregory and Gregory is known for run defense.
