Parsons contract delay

Contracts dont usually run only one year. Even if i can understand that some here think its like that because of recent happenings.

That said we seem to have money this year. But we only postponed the payments of players to the following years. We dont have money next and the following years. That should be considered also when talking about handing out multi year multi million contracts

People made the same argument when Herschel Walker was traded.

Problem is, GM Jethro is not Jimmy Johnson. Even if we traded Micah, GM Jethro would screw it up.
Great point. Jimmy then took the pics and built the Dynasty

Guys, they're not trading him. Have we been watching? The Cowboys don't trade their stars. They pay them. Their rookie contract stars get paid, not traded.
No one's been traded worth a darn from the Cowboys since Walker. When's the last time a high caliber player we have has been traded for decent trade value??? They screwed it up with Amari Cooper, could've at least gotten a 2nd or 3rd for him at the time. This front office is dumb.

Not sure if it would reach Herschel's trade level but there are some serious nuggets out strongly suggesting this could be the best outcome.

I have seen this type of nugget with the Pats more than a few times. I think the thinking is Vrabel has the clout/motivation/ resources to pull it off. He has his franchise QB, Parsons would give him a franchise defensive leader.

I'd want the 4th this year plus this year's 2nd and their 1st next year.

Idc what people believe accurate value is due to his pending contract. I need an absolute minimum of that to consider moving on.

Can you use Parsons to trade up to 3 and grab Carter?

Just spit balling here.
It's not a bad idea. I like Parsons. He's perhaps a generational talent but he's not exactly the keystone of a top-rated defense. Pay him $40 million plus and he better be but I don't see what can be built around him if he takes that big a piece of the pie. He was so good his rookie year when he played all over the field, though.

That being said, I would think that any team even picking in the top ten is rebuilding and wouldn't want to take on a contract like the one Parson's is going to command. A rebuilding team would rather have the draft capital and cheap rookie contracts, or at least they should.

All of or most of these replies assume any hold up is due to $$$.

I think there is much more at play here.

I think the team has approached him about working out in Dallas to show leadership and have questioned his podcast/tweeting.

It also assumes only one side is "at fault" for any delay. We don't know the demands the agent has given, but we do know that Micah feels that his agent is protecting him from being violated, ironically enough, we know this because of a Micah tweet.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I've heard in the past that the league revenue sharing checks don't go out to teams until mid summer around July. If that is accurate then it makes sense why the Cowboys don't spend a ton of money between March and July.

Jerry loves the attention he’ll milk this for all its worth
Yep, I have a very difficult time believing he will fork over a signing bonus check of that size without at least getting some “will Micah hold out of camp?” attention.

His act is not only bad, but predictable. Parsons is getting a record deal whether it’s now or later. There isn’t much to negotiate. Jerry has no intention of losing him and the agent knows it.

Opportunity for a Herschel type trade that could turn the franchise around. Micah would get two firsts and a few other picks or young players. This team isn’t winning anything over the next couple of years and a trade like this could set the 2027 or 2028 team up for a run.
Jerral's feeble mind cannot think that far in the future.

The Cowboys are not serious about extending Parsons right now. That is not how they operate. They are willing to listen sure, so if Parsons want to extend now he'd have to be super cheap. His agent likely knows waiting is much better as the boys will back themselves into a corner and Parsons will 100% get paid as one of if not the highest paid LB in the league.

He'll get signed in July or August.

This is what these idiots do. If they signed him today, they'd likely open up more cap space and they sure as hell don't want fans to see them sitting on over $50MM in cap space and signing slop like they have.

We are easily one of the worst run franchises in football at this point. Jerry has gotten more stupid and stubborn as he has entered his remaining years on this planet and his son has always been a moron.

Lol. "A run". Is Jimmy Johnson here to make those picks? Cause you sure as hell could not make a run to the toilet with the current GM using those picks.

Plus the Pats next year 1st and this years 3rd and they have a deal. Only one first for a DPOY candidate at 25 years old gets you more than just 1 first.

Fantasy. This is just using the words “Dallas Cowboys” to get clicks. The Patriots are worse than the Cowboys. They need more draft picks, not less.
