Parsons not the answer?

Jaylon will be back next year so you could easily work parsons in and not overwhelm him
Parsons would allow you to move on from jaylon the following year
I’m not as down on jaylon as some
I think he’s a better player than some think but he’s not a top 3 player and that’s what we are paying him to be
Plus in 2 years we have LVE coming up for a deal
Do you pay him with the neck issues?
Parsons gives you options
But I don’t think parsons will be there at 8 but you never know

Jaylon or any other player is never the reason for a historically bad defense
My issue with jaylon is not that he’s trash, he obviously is not
But we are paying him top 3 money and he’s obviously not a top 3 LB either
This defense needs more than an upgrade at MLB to be good
I agree but you can say that about Zeke on offense. Most big time contracts are busts anyway. Look at the Eagles.

I think zeke will be gone as soon as his contract allows
Jaylon is after next year, I believe zeke is the year after
I agree on big contracts, not necessarily all busts but few live up to the contract which makes it important to pick and choose which you extend and hope it’s the right ones
Markets drive contracts and owners drive to win
drives the market

I would just sign the franchise quarterback and take care of the lines. Fill the other positions through the draft and cheap free agents.

Taking Parsons in the top 10 scares me a little as he is another upside potential pick. We all thought Jaylon had the mental makeup to be an elite starter once he got healthy, but has showed to have average instincts, coverage abilities.

We should take whomever is the best defensive player on the board with our first pick. If it's corner, fine. LB, fine. DT, fine.

The LB room isn't broad here; Lee is probably retiring, March is a FA and LVE/Smith have been subpar. We need talent.

I’ve watched parson a lot and he’s much more instinctual than jaylon was even in college and just as athletic
He’s not a guy who’s played 4 years or more at LB but he sheds blocks well and looks to be in the right place most of the time
But at 8 I don’t see him being there
As in most every draft if you want the safest pick you go oline. They seem to have the lowest fail rate

Thats the issue

It looks like an average Joe fan wrote this...

Parsons is head and shoulders above anything we have at LBr. He’s likely come in and day 1 be one of the best defenders on our team outside of Law.

Why not post how he plays more snaps then anyone on the defense. How about him being the best and most dependable linebacker on the team. Yeah that sorry son of a b is the problem.

1. Congrats...he plays more snaps than the other linebackers. That’s speaks nothing to his ability.

2. Our “best and most dependable linebacker?” Lulz, shuddup.

It's tough but I'd probably hold off on another 1st or 2nd rounder on a LB. 3rd round is the earliest I'd go. You might be able to find another plug and play LB later in the draft like Hitchens. Save the premium picks for a position like DB where it's harder to find starters the longer you wait

I’m not going to waste any time defending our LBs, but the article is accurate. You could have any LB in the league and it won’t matter much if we don’t address the DT position. If you consistently allow the OL to get to the second level without resistance playing lb is a very tough gig.

Jaylon is obviously trash. You don't have to sugarcoat it - he's an active detriment to the defense.

That’s it
We paid him like a top 3 player and he’s not
He’s better than some fans think but he’s not an elite LB
If we cut him tomorrow he’d be signed very quickly but not for what we are paying him

Best case scenario, they draft a future starter who replaces Jaylon and his contract at the start of the 2022 season.
