Well seems like they are defending against the strong pass rush the Cowboys have. Screens, dump off passes, and of course run, run and run.... DQ needs to counter attack. As long as the Dallas offense can get in front by couple of scores, it is ok... but if they get behind, there will be a problem.
As long as the offense is scoring it’s not an issue
But your point is spot on
But that’s what teams do, they attack you in a way that off sets your strength
If I was coaching a team playing the Boys I’d do everything I could to keep my QB alive
That’s how the league works
The offense keeps scoring and teams won’t be able to play small ball all game

Also have to consider the last two opponents. The Lions and Bears both have pass protection issues and the plan was for them to run the ball to avoid getting their QB's destroyed. And the Bears have run for a million yards against everybody it seems so no need to panic about that rushing total a couple weeks ago.

Our biggest weakness is qb runs. We need to figure that out first and foremost.

I said it after the game vs the Bears that for that game at least, getting up by 3 scores, I think we switched our defensive strategy to defend the pass, never in a million years expecting Chicago to stick to the ground game. We certainly never would have in their shoes. That and Fields beating us a few times in with the RPO skewed the rushing total given up in that game.

Packers are a very good running team as well. Dallas has to be able to stop the run or they will not go far. Remember the 49’er playoff game?

You guys are missing the point. This is a good thing.

Every single team in the NFL is less efficient when they run the ball than when they throw it. Every time you run the ball in the NFL on first down and 10, for example, you are helping your opponent win the game. If our defense forces teams to run the ball more and abandon the more efficient parts of their offense, let them keep doing it. Even if we struggle stopping the run it STILL helps us. Because how well you run the ball doesn’t correlate with winning statistically.

You’re right about the Bears but the Lions actually are very good at Pass Protection, near top of the league when they played us. They ran the ball a lot against us because that’s what they do. They also got rid of the ball quickly in the passing game because they were playing the 2022 Cowboys. If that’s not part of the plan this season, you plan to lose.

It's just smart offense to not put themselves in must pass situations. On 1st downs, I'd like Hankins at NT with Parsons at MLB to stop this running stuff. Then move #11 back to outside OLB after they force 2nd n long.

Right. We have the top pass rushing team in the league, so why try to throw deep and risk a sack? Either run or throw a quick hitter until we show that we can stop it. Fortunately, even with teams doing that, our defense has been pretty good at stopping them, outside of a few instances.

Teams have to run even when the game is essentially over because passing is painful.
