FSU DT. Guy's in such bad shape he couldn't even stay on the field in the BCS Championship. I'll pass. If we get a big guy, give me a guy who's in shape or a good who put up productive numbers in college. Jernigan did neither.

I agree but not just from tonight's game. I watched him all season. I don't see the burst off the line like so many talk about.

Just give me Aaron Donald

Jernigan had a great game tonight? Minus the being gassed. The commentators were praising him quite a bit tonight.

Talk about a knee jerk reaction. You realize that just about no DT's can play every snap and a healthy rotation is required right? Example: I read that Minnesota DT Hageman played in a strict rotation and only played about 60% of their snaps to keep him fresh. If FSU didn't do this then they failed to manage Jernigan effectively. I'm not sure that's the case... all I'm saying is the fact that he was bent over on the sideline is only partial information.

If you watched the game you'd have seen that he was a disruptive force and was the biggest influence on about 3-5 stops at the line of scrimmage. That said, I still don't love him. As mentioned, not an explosive upfield step. Not "twichy" enough to be an upper tier 3T (or at least not how we want it played). More of a 1T in our system. Not too dissimilar than Sharrif Floyd actually.

He is very overrated.. Doesn't get off blocks well either and doesn't play with much of a mean streak.. I will pass

He just looked soft. Gassed or not, he should have been on the field when Auburn was running down the field to take the lead. What was funny is he was running on the field for the extra point after they scored on Mason's TD.

"I don't think anyone realizes how hard it is to substitute against this team (Auburn)." -Nick Saban

Kid played the whole game sheesh. And idk if they subbed him until the 4th. Idk if he was ever a first round option but don't say "I'll pass" like the ones we have don't get gassed off 1 series lol.

oh my god. he did'nt play every snap. wanna guess how many dline guys on either team did? i like donald much more but he really helped his draft stock last night with his play. scouts are gonna look at tape not listen to commentators. he played a very good game and made plays in the backfield.

Jernigan comes off as more of a 1-tech than a 3-tech, and there's no reason to use a high draft pick on a guy like that. He's solid in the middle, but I don't think he has the burst to be a passrusher or consistently make plays in the backfield.

And Auburn ran for like 230 yards, so its not like he was single-handedly stopping the run on plays he was in.

Wow tough crowd in here I see. Jernigan had a great game last night and pretty much held his own inthe middle of the trenches while he was out there.

Auburn runs the Hurry Up No Huddle Offense damn near to perfection and you think Jernigan is overrated because he needed to catch his breath inthe 4th quarter. Wow just Wow

this. Aaron Donald is a beast. I said that a lil while back. Give me Aaron Donald. Relentless. Ratliff junior. and i like that he tries to punish the qb when he hit's him. No more mr nice guy.

By the way...

FSU DL Timmy Jernigan was a monster despite running a fever this week and getting sick at end of game

I realize the OP couldn't have known this about him running a fever and battling those conditions. Just thought it was very appropriate to mention. Also, most of the scouts I follow on Twitter are claiming how great he was last night and that he's a top 10 candidate if he declares.

Late in the contest, the junior was knelt down on the sideline, sweating like a sieve, looking like he could keel over at any moment. At the time, Jernigan's conditioning under serious fire, but it was later revealed that he was playing with the flu.

Rather than looking soft, Jernigan came off looking like a true warrior.

While clearly run down, he still tallied nine tackles, the second-most in the game, and assisted on a tackle for a loss.

Wasn't just that game. All season I have not seen what people have seen in him. Mcshay says he is the top DT. No way. Also I don't see the quickness into the back field like donald

Yep, except that Donald is better than Ratliff ever was.

I'm trying not to just talk about Donald in every DT conversation... but he is head and shoulders (and more) better than any other 3-tech prospect out there. He's a perfect fit in Dallas with their first round pick.
