Pass Rush Issues Going Forward

While the Titans do not pose a real threat in the passing game to me, the rest of the opponents can absolutely light up the scoreboard through the air... I honestly do not like the lack of pressure on QBs the past three games, with Lawrence's shoulder injury and Irving's high ankle sprain (I purposely failed to mention Gregory because he hasn't done much anyway) this doesn't bode well for the Cowboys.

Thoughts?

I'm hopeful that Collins is ready to start getting some push in the middle since we're going to be without Irving for a while.

Lawrence had 7 tackles, 4 for a loss in the last game.

In case folks here don't watch much football, that's a dominant game. But all y'all care about is sacks.
I gave him credit for that, but in true crunch time we need our STAR Defensive player to get some sacks that actually effect the outcome..

hes a complete player, has a good motor, good attitude, BUT again we are playing very close games that are coming down to the end and when we need a BIG Sack he hasn't been there..

And we are #2 in scoring Defense.
But yet the Whine Zone continues to have new threads on the same topics over and over. Just presented different ways.
And we say Garrett and Linehan are not creative to disguise plays, well, posters are not creative to disguise threads. :lmao:

I get it, it is frustrating, but it is to the point that makes this place laughable.
I will get my negative posts in, and my positive posts in. But I try to not do it as either constructive criticism or just to joke too. As all we may have left is to have fun with this team, win or lose.
They still need to show more on the field, though more on offense than defense, other than giving up the big plays.

I did expect more from Taco and Gregory. But they have not been horrible as some want to rag about.
Put Crawford in there too.

Well, they needed more out of Gregory,Taco and Irving and they didn’t meet expectations. I think at the end of the year,I’d have a sit down with those 3 and point out where the numbers should have been, and why they weren’t. Lawrence can’t do this all on his own,and they can’t keep doing this every year. Those 3 must be on that field producing and that’s just all there is to it.

Irving is not reliable, period. Gregory doesn't produce enough and needs to be cut. Taco is a nice back-up till this point and someone we really need to improve over the last 9 games.

Well, that’s why I would be having that sit down. This simply can’t continue this way. 3 players is a heck of lot of investment to justify the contributions they are giving to this defense. A 1st and a 2nd for Taco and Gregory alone, and THIS is what it amounts to? Not acceptable.

Well let's dig a bit into that #2 scoring defense. How realistic is it?

For starters, we don't generate turnovers, we are middle of the pack in sacks and middle of the pack in 3rd down defense. So it calls into question how good that #2 scoring D rating is. Are we just getting lucky or are there other factors here?

Further, this defense hasn't faced one Top 10 scoring offense thus far. The best they have faced was #12 Carolina (opening game), #14 Houston. Four of our games have come against teams in the bottom third of the league in terms of scoring Os.

That's not to say that our defense stinks or isn't very good. Football Outsiders has us around 11 overall and I think that's fair.

Left out the biggest factor affecting our defense: the offense...they suck and produce a ton of 3 and outs, which consistently puts us in bad position (both from a time-of-possession and field position perspective). If we had a halfway decent offense I'm sure our defense would improve with that additional rest time and better field position

Cowboys are middle of the pack in TOP.

We're 18th in time of possession and 21st in average starting field position, both of which are bad...do you disagree with the statement that our defense would improve through improved TOP and field position or are you just here to argue semantics as to whether or not 18th in TOP is considered bad?

I just couldn’t resist but...You purposely failed to mention Gregory and then put parentheses that he hasn’t done much. I would say you defeated the purpose of not mentioning him by mentioning him. If you purposely want to fail to mention someone then don’t mention them.

Ok that is all. Carry on and good day.
