Pass2Run Mock Part II (Trade Down with Steelers)

I got to agree with Hairston being a big reach. Most had him rated early 3rd before the combine. Other than he ran fast what changed?
He’s still only 183lbs which in itself limits him to slot and that’s before you consider he doesn’t tackle, plays poorly vs run tending to dive at the runners feet and he had chronic shoulder issues last season!
If im going to reach it would be for Reval or even Barron!
He does tackle though. In 2023, he had 53 tackles...

Yeah, same. But it was Jaydon Blue and he takes Vaughn's spot.

I know it'd never happen.
Sometime, hopefully before I die the Dallas Cowboys will acquire a nasty run stuffing 1 tech along with his back up to spell snaps.
Funny how it's a copycat league and the Eagles just showed this is how you win trophies and yet the Cowboys will stick with the WR and CB recipe to success.

Mazi and probably Guyton too(TBD)were a miss.
Can't be scared to keep trying the same position again til ya get it right.
This philosophy applies to every position.
Proactive vs. reactive.

The Jones duo and their ignorant pride/ego.
The death of this team.

To be fair, there's no Jordan Davis or Jalen Carter in this draft..

He needs to put on about 12-13 lbs of muscle.

Travis Hunter is smallish as well, a little taller. But proportionately sized
Hunter has the frame he could easily add 5-7lbs annd play at 195 without effecting him. Hairston frame looks close to being maxed out.
More importantly, Hunter was always considered a 1st round (top 10 for that matter) pick.
Most boards were ranking Hairston in the early 3rd before the combine. Other than he ran fast what changed?
Barron looks like a better prospect than Hairston, is consistently ranked higher and I wouldn’t take him before 25 and that would only be as a last resort!

I try not to worry where other players are ranked by the media. Mostly, they just parrot each other and regurgitate the same "analysis." You get a lot of that on draft channels: everyone parroting everyone else.

It's lazy. How does a young 20s guy "max out" his frame? That doesn't make any sense.

But I'm sure someone somewhere said the same thing. Hairston was invited to the draft for a reason: he's likely going first round.

He has the statistical production to go along with his combine performance..sure, he needs a bit more weight. But he can afford to lose a tad bit of speed because he's already so fast.

I don't know. He's one of 18 players invited to Green Bay.

I'm not all that worried about it. Nobody important cares what I think anyway.

It looks like they had a bunch of people decline this year.
Milroe is on the list and there’s no way he should go in the first, hell 2nd or 3rd for that matter!

He’s a toothpick, even with a pocket full of rocks and sunshine!

When I do simulator mocks (thousands) I try to be realistic as possible and that includes the trades. The Steelers are not trading up and giving up a 3rd and a 4th, especially when they don't have a 2nd. There is no player worth losing that much draft capital in this draft. I use simulators as a tool to try and gauge a feel for what can possibly happen and if a player is on the board that I know would be long gone in reality I don't draft him. I also don't accept any crazy farfetched trade offers...I try to stay on par with the value chart.
When I look at a posted mock and see right away that it's far fetched I stop reading it, it annoys me. But each his own.

Until Jerry trades them for a guy nobody else wants...

;)
Jerry he can be quite contrary but so far since Schottenheimer was hired Jerry has seemed to be letting his coaching staff call the shots.I hope this continues ,not getting the Parsons deal done in good time is the contrary old Jerry however.I hope this draft is run by the scouts for the coaches ,you will see a better draft and more success in Dallas.

Good draft, the Ty Robinson pick is hurting my eyes tho, lol. Cowboys need a 1T bad, and Robinson is a 3T.
Yes the run stopping monster nose tackle is very much a need in Dallas , it shouldn't be a problem drafting one .Kenneth Grant in the first with a trade down or Jamaree Caldwell later would get the job done I believe .What do you think.Who do you like at one technique in this draft.

5 INTs, 3 for TDs.

Good tackler and has a really nice allowed passer rating. What else do you want?

In the top 25!
Someone who can actually play outside corner, you know, 195-200lbs, come up in run defense and not break or dive at peoples feet, someone who didn’t suffer chronic shoulder issues his last season of college! Someone who didn’t jump from the 3rd round to first just because he ran fast…even then the best rankings I’ve seen on him are in the 30s!

Johnson had 4 int in 2023, 2 in only 6 games this year, 9 for his career.
Barron had 5 this season!
Both are much better candidates as outside corners.

And his passer rating this season was 78, which is considered borderline poor, probably hindered by the shoulder injury.
The season prior it was 67 which is slightly above average!
