First off nothing is all that in just three weeks, actually all this kind of thing is silly until around week 10ish, then we get a pretty good read on how all this is really going. But, what the hell....

I look at comp% TD/INT ratio and passer rating as the biggie for QB's

Current reality.

NFL Player Stats - QB Rating

Rank Player Team Pos Value
1 Russell Wilson Seattle Seahawks QB 133.6
2 Matthew Stafford Los Angeles Rams QB 129.8
3 Tyrod Taylor Houston Texans QB 122.9
4 Kirk Cousins Minnesota Vikings QB 118.3
5 Teddy Bridgewater Denver Broncos QB 116.4
6 Kyler Murray Arizona Cardinals QB 113.4
7 Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs QB 111.7
8 Dak Prescott Dallas Cowboys QB 110.1

Combine that stat with Total TD/Turnover differential and you have a great indicator of who is playing great ball.

In fact, the QB that ranks highest (after a full season) in those two stats combined almost always is the winner or top three in MVP voting, and his team is usually doing well too.

Here is that ranking after three weeks

For a season 100 is what ya want, would ya believe Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson have 100 plus for the career?
Yep. Rodgers is as gifted as anybody I have ever seen throw a football.

Merely efficient over effective, I'll take effective every day and once on Sunday

So we have,,,,

These will change a TON over the next several weeks but they are after 3 weeks...so don't freak out.
Just stats...no bias.
I only included QBs that have played in 3 games.

  1. Stafford
  2. Wilson
  3. Cousins
  4. Brady
  5. Mahomes
  6. Murray
  7. Bridgewater
  8. Winston
  9. Rodgers
  10. Carr
  11. Prescott
So if we look at where a QB is listed on both lists....

I went through enough stats and excellence that didn’t translate to wins with a previous unnamed QB.
This is a team sport. I only care about QBR if we are losing games because the QB sticks or is giving the game away. I think too much losing has driven us to grasp any any BS we can be happy about.
All I care about is winning. We win with the QB passing for 400 yards, 75% completions, and 4 TD, great. We win with the QB throwing for 200 yards, 60% completions, and 1 TD, great. It’s a team sport that requires offense, defense, special teams, and coaches who know when and how to win 35-33 and win and how to win 12-10.

Win games, win the division, win in the playoffs.

So why bother with pro bowls, All Pros, Hall of Fame. What is totally crazy is paying QB's more than offensive linemen, without the big guys there are no QB;s.

Aaron Rodgers will end up the best QB we have ever seen if he plays long enought.
I think rogers will have to pass for another 28000 yards to pass brees. What funny is brady only needs like 60 yards to pass brees.

Not just about stats, and one of the worst is passing yards. Ya throw to catch up.

Joe Montana is always in the top two/three QB discussion and his stats not all that compared to Brees/Manning.

How about Marino. He had like every passing record for a long time. Never got a ring. Everyone likes to look at the passing yards because after you retire and all is gone they make it a individual stat. Not a body of work with the team or teams you played with and had success. Then it’s a team stat.

Marino had Duper/Clayton/Tony Nathan, and still had a less than 60 career comp%, his career passer rating a weak 86.4 and he only had one season with a 100 passer rating.

A three time All Pro compared to Mannings seven.

Don't get passing yards, that is more about your weapons.
