Someone in another thread had mentioned that no SB winner had ever lost like the way we did at home. So I did a little research and I have a list of all the SB winners who lost a game in the season with at least 20 points.
As you see from the list some of these teams did loose some games by a large margin at home but earlier in the season like the 1994 SF lost 40-8 (week 5) and the 1970 Colts lost 44-24 (week 2)
About the only team that I consider had a worst lost than the Cowboys were the 1988 SF, they lost 38-16 at home on the very last week of the season. So you can imagine the hand wringings and wailings by their fans that year prior to the playoffs. By the way, this is the year where their record was only 10-6 and tie with the Saints and Rams, they had a bye week.

2003- NE lost to the Bills 31-0 week 1 in Buffalo
1994- SF lost to the Eagles 40-8 in week 5 at home
1992-Dallas lost to the Eagles 31-7 in week 5 in Philadelphia
1988-SF lost to the Rams 38-16 in week 16 (last game) at home
1987-Washington lost to the Giants 30-10 at NY in week 16
1979-Steelers lost to the Chargers 35-7 in week 12 in SD
Also lost to the Bengals 34-10 in week 7 in Cincinati
1976-Oakland lost to the patriots 48-17 in week 4 at NE
1970-Colts lost to the Chiefs 44-24 in week 2 at home

You forgot the 38-20 kicking we suffered at the hands of the 49ers when we were 7-1 (or was it 7-2) and they were 5-4 back in 1995

Simply put... it was one game and it was regular season game. :starspin

I noticed that the majority of these lopsided losses for SB winners came very early in the season. Not a good omen to go by.

I only compiled the ones with at least a 20 points loss.

Agree, I did it just to show that, like you said it's only 1 game, 1 loss. Just look at that 1988 SF team. They lost on the last game of the season. Imagine what would happen here if we loose this game on the last day of the season instead of now.

I know your criteria was SB winners but...

We lost to the Vikings like 52-14 back in 1970 and then righted the ship to win our last 5 regular season games and the playoffs before losing to the Colts in the SB.

While I agree it's just one game on the season it bothers me the way the offense abandoned Julius Jones in the first and second quarters of the game when he was on pace to have like 200 yards rushing, pretty pathetic.
