Pat Watkins? The real problem is...

Zimmer

Why in the world is the rookie being asked to single cover a WR anyway? Or is Roy just out of position again.

Is Andy Reid that good at scheming that he can draw up plays so that he knows Watkins will be toast against a WR.

WR1 = CB1 Safety Deep-(Don't let behind you!)
WR2 = CB2 Safety Deep-(Don't let behind you!)
TE = LB or SS Short, Safety Deep-(Don't let behind you!)

Zimmer never gets anything out of the talent we have on Defense. Our Blitzes are never disguised and are usually picked up because they are easy to spot.

We never get real pressure up the middle; its always from the edge which allows the passer to step up and deliver a nice ball.

Why is it so hard to notice that Philly can't run it and they are going deep with it so back the blank up and don't let anybody get behind you. We haven't had a safety since Woody that knows this.

The problem was Watkins didn't make the tackle.

He bit on an in move. 90% of the time, that play would have resulted in an INT.

Watkins is NOT the problem.

He bit on two in moves, resulting in two TD's. Yes, he was very much part of the problem

Why would a FS be asked to cover a WR?

Every FS in the league has to do that for at least a few plays a game. Philly guessed right.

Watkins made a couple of rookie mistakes that hurt more than most rookie mistakes. I somehow suspect he will be starting again this week, at least I hope he is because if not that could be the type of thing to shatter this kids confidence for good.

Well lets see.

On the Hank Baskett TD Greg Ellis missed a sack on McNabb. If he wraps up its a sack. Watch the play and youll see there is no excuse for McNabb to even get that ball off.

2nd play on the flea flicker he was sitting right there in position. Thats not Mike Zimmers fault.

Zimmer thought he could cover him and HE DID. He was all over Reggie Brown. Only problem is he never made any kind of play on the ball. If he sticks his hand up he knocks the ball down.

Dont blame the coachs because the players were in a position to make plays and as a fan or player thats all you can hope for.

Because this is the NFL which stands for NOT FOR LONG when you cant make the plays you are supposed to.

Either make the plays or ride the pine.

Actually, three TD's. He let LJ Smith run completely uncontested down the deep seam when he clearly had deep third responsibility. They teach kids playing free safety in Pop Warner to not let anyone behind them when playing the deep third. It doesn't get any more simple than that. To blame that on Zimmer is absolutely ridiculous.

Only in empty backfield! Rookie Free Safety's don't cover Wr's in my defensive gameplan one on one but they must in Zim's.

Only if I am blitzing a corner. And we blitzed a corner??? Never!

That would be an unexpected blitz!

Watkins IS a rookie after all. It will not be perfect this year or maybe some next year. Give him time and I think he will be OK.

thats all I am saying nobody behind you.

Roy doesn't understand this and Pat doesn't either. Zim doesn't remind them or teach it.

Guessed right? I think Zim got punked again. He's too easy to figure out.

I also read somewhere that Zimmer was against world peace.

I though Zimmer was to busy building the Internet to coach the "D"

I've been told he also makes fun of those of less than average height.

Pretty cruel stuff if you ask me. :)

What were you watching? We blitzed our corners a couple of times. On one, Newman came in from the right and nearly sacked McNabb. And on one of the plays Watkins bit on, Henry was actually lined up on the receiver but he blitzed from that position, making the receiver Watkins' responsibility. The announcers actually talked about that particular play....
