One key thing that this week's stinging defeat has shown me is that there are a lot of people attached to the Cowboys who need to show more patience.
From the offensive coordinator, to the quarterback, to us as fans.
We all could use a bit more patience.
Jason Garrett needs to show patience in his playcalling. The running game might not be as flashy as a big pass play but it was obviously effective on Sunday night. The Cowboys were running all over the Giant's defense and Garrett should have seen that and adjusted his playcalling accordingly. I feel he forced pass plays when his quarterback was obviously "off" all night.
Tony Romo could also use some patience in his throws, forcing passes into coverage, and not taking the time to read a defense. He was bad all night, and rather than exercising patience and checking down in his passes, he was trying to force things. Sometimes - like Sunday night - it's OK to play the role of bus driver while your team gets an otherwise "ugly" win.
Us fans, myself included, can show a bit more patience before we give up on our team and this season. Undoubtedly, this loss was very frustrating, the Cowboys lost a game they by all rights should have won and opened up the new stadium with a thud. But there are numerous positives to be taken from this game as well. For every one thing this team is doing wrong, there are two that it's doing right and this was in fact one game.
