I think PC could be a #2 receiver on some teams... but not in dallas. I think he has proven that.

While he is probably certainly more talented than some #2s in teams lacking talent, I don't think this team functions well enough with him at that spot.

Obviously most of us are really high on Dez Bryant, and as low as people are on Roy Williams, fact is Roy has more upside than Crayton. As bad as a year as he had last year, he would have to do quite a bit to recreate that poor showing. Crayton on the other hand has a more realistic ceiling. And I think most of us know that if Roy plays well is going to play much higher than Crayton's ceiling.

I will admit that PC is at least more consistent than Roy.

With our current make up it doesn't make sense to keep Patrick, it just doesn't. It might make more sense for this year, in case of an injury, but we aren't really a 4 wide team, and we're going to get more value by trading him now, and its going to be better for his career as well. He is 31 years old. Turning 32 in April.

I wouldn't keep him just as a return guy, I think there are guys on our team with more upside than PC in the PR game. We replaced him, and weren't happy with him until he got those two punt returns for touchdowns with PERFECT blocking given to him.

Much like moving on from T.O. despite his production, I think moving on from PC will be romo friendly. We need someone who is more dominate in the slot, and a better option at X or Z.

Putting Miles is the slot is going to be a boon for our team. His quickness, strength, and general reliability is going to help Romo quite a bit.

If Roy can step up and by what he has done this offseason, preseason... he can... our offense will be much better with Bryant over Crayton.

Once Bryant is ready, the offense will be better with him. When will he be ready? Most rookie receivers are not ready their first year. He hasn't had many practices and hasn't played in the pre-season.

What can Dallas get for Crayton? His trade value may be at its highest right now, but is it high enough to offset his loss?

Say it is for a 6th round pick. I would rather keep him and let him go after the year and get nothing in return. His value to Dallas this year is worth more than a future 6th round pick. Maybe even more than a 5th or 4th.

Crayton is the is one of the most "Romo friendly" guys we have. 3rd downs and broken down plays, situations that Romo needs a guy he trusts, are when Pat makes the most plays.

Romo thinks Bryant is already ready. Most rookie receivers? Most rookie receivers aren't top 10 talent, going to a top 10 qb.

I'd hope we would trade Crayton for a player rather than a draft pick, because I agree I don't think we'll get much in terms of a draft pick. That said Crayton's playing time will be very minimal.

Sam Hurd had 12 passes come his way last year, Ogletree had 8.

There isn't much playing time as a 4th receiver on this team.

I could live with trading Crayton if the price was right and the coaches thought is was the right thing to do. I would have liked to see more out of Ogletree this year, though, to make me more comfortable with trading PC. If one of the top 3 go down with injury, Crayton can pick up the slack. I'm not sure O-Tree is ready for that. Hurd maybe.

I agree with urface59 that Crayton is very "Romo friendly".

Yep. And it's exactly why he shouldn't be on the trade block if he unrequested it.

.

Jerry Rice did. Had a good rookie year.

I am more concerned that Bryant missed most of training camp and the pre-season than him being a rookie.

lotta "if's and maybe's" in there about Roy. "Hopefully" he can play like an average #2 which he hasn't done yet. "Hopefully" he can play the slot since Dez will probably take his job shortly. "Maybe" he can return punts to.

There is no reason to take any action whatsoever with Crayton. He's under contract. Dez will move into the lineup at Roy's spot and Roy will be cut. He makes way too much money to barely cut it at #2. You don't think Austin is seeing a huge payday coming? He's gotta get paid soon and Roy's holding his money.

His 7 touchdowns are above average for a #2 receiver. Its not hard to think his catch percentage will go up, that has to be the lowest of his career.

Yeah, I don't like RW11, but let's be real ... 7 TDs is really good season for a #2 WR.
