Patrick Mahomes

I watched him play in person many times at Texas Tech, but I didn't except this. He's really the first Texas Tech QB to succeed in the NFL since Billy Joe Tolliver. (early 90's) unless you count Baker Mayfield who transferred to OU.

His play resembles the combo of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

He is amazing to watch. Him and Watson are going to own the league for the next 10 years.

I wouldn't make such a bold prediction this early in Mahomes. How many times have we seen first year lights out NFL players at different positions only to stink it up the following year? Mahomes had his first snap in the NFL in week 17 in 2017 after KC wanted to rest Smith.

Let's see if the kid can/will continue playing at such a high level next season. Something tells me he won't, but hey, I could be wrong and we may just see the new Brady/Manning arise. Out with the old in with the new. Either way, it's refreshing to see all these young QB's out there. It's time for the old one's to retire. Yes, that means you too Worthlisberger, Eli, Brady etc....

Mahomes is playing insane. He's the real Superman. The human highlight. That boy good.

No I agree I may be speaking too soon. But he is impressive so far. More then anyone I can remember so young. Time will tell....

His overall production will probably fluctuate some over the next few years. Thats to be expected from a young QB. But he is legit as far as being a franchise QB. He has everything you want from the talent to the mental makeup.

Looking back Im kinda surprised Wentz went as high as he did and Mahomes couldnt crack the top 10. I get that Mahomes played in a college offense, but he has the same characteristics that people fell in love with with Wentz

I am convinced that scouts really do not have a clue as far as qb’s. In the beginning of the year Wentz was talked about as a second round pick then shot up right before the draft. If Watson was taken the year before he would of been a lot higher.

Im actually surprised Watson went as high as he did. He arm tested out at 48mph, which is very very low. NFL threshold is about 52 I believe. I think Dak was 54. However I dont know if there was a specific reason Watson's arm strength tested so poorly. He has always looked like he had a very strong arm and I have never seen him struggle to make a throw

I do agree about scouting QB's though

Lynch is a good example. Throwing the ball, he has immense "arm talent". Not only a very good arm, but he the ability to throw with touch as well. Very comparable to Rothlisberger in that regard. However the tells about his football character supposedly really came out in his interviews. And if you arent a self starter with good leadership traits at QB, you are an almost guaranteed bust.

Scouts seemed to ignore that when he still went in the first. They probably wanted to see the next Rothlisberger in Lynch. Which based on pure physical was a just comparison. But the mental ability and personal character made it very unlikely he would sniff his ceiling

he is a really good qb but his offensive line is playing really well also and he has some really good weapons to throw to I still don't think the chiefs will make the afc championship game or superbowl

Mahomes will be best served sticking with Reid and his knack for dotting the offense with explosive playmakers.
