Patrick Peterson Declares for Draft...Welcome to Dallas

Why would he want to convert to safety. Top CB's make more than Top safeties

Some dont believe CB will be his best pro position. I've seen announcers speculate on it a few times this yr.

And after seeing him play, I believe it too.

Also, if we trade up to Arizona's 5 pick, im thinking its going to cost more than a 3rd.

Yeah I think thats wishful thinking too. It'd probably cost quite a bit more than that, unless they are just desperate to trade out of the pick.

There's no way I'd trade up to get him.

They're so much more different than you could imagine, coming from someone that played both positions.

I've played both positions too. I know the assignments for each one and what the differences are, but I don't think it's something so astronomical to switch to if you're good at covering and have good instincts in the secondary.

I'm still not sold on Patrick Peterson. Like Sean Smith a couple years back, I would need to see his body of work at the combine. How's his 3 cone and shuttle? Does he sink his hips and pivot well in the speed turn drill? Does he weigh in upwards of 225?

The Dallas coaches thought Allen Ball could convert to safty and he's not nearly as talented as PP

I would love to get Peterson... but I don't see him falling to 9 with the way everybody is talking about him.

There has really been one guy successfully make the transition in the NFL: Rod Woodson.

And then there's Alan Ball.

Ronnie Lott moved from CB to Safety

If we get a safety I would just as soon get a safety if we get Peterson I would leave him at his natural position.

Doesn't make a difference to me what position he plays, I don't know what's natural and what's artificial in terms of his position but it only helps him if he is willing to play both, or better yet, do what his coaches tell him to do.

And how soon we forget Mel Renfro and Cornell Green. Not to mention Carnell Lake made a more difficult transition, moved from safety to corner.

1. He doesn't have a choice.

2. He's going to be paid whatever the market holds for the number he's picked, regardless of position. If he's #9 overall, he's getting paid #9 money, regardless if he's a CB, S or a WR. Only if he was a QB that might change.

Anyway, Andrew Luck not electing for the draft hurt our chance. Hopefully Mallett, Locker and company will see their draft stock rise.

YR

he is good but we have several needs on this team

we need to fix OL, front 7 on defence, and FS and those should be our priorities esp since we have 2 first rounders at corner and decent backups in OScan and Ball.

We need "pressure players" in our front seven and good safety play, if we do that, our current corners wil be fine under a real DC

if we trade up to get peterson, it will be more evidence that JJ has learned nothing as a GM

Hello, my name is Ronnie Lott.

Have you met my friend Malcolm Jenkins?

If I'm paying a guy multiple 8 figures I'm not asking him what he wants to do?

If Patrick Peterson falls to the 9th spot, someone needs to play the slots in Vegas, they would be lucky consecutive years!
