And they didn't have a first round draft pick in 2000, and Damien Woody hit free agency and went to detroit. So they've drafted well since 1999. They have a total of 6 1st rounder drafted by them on their team. Not including Willie McGinest (which makes 7). the others i believe have for the most part been busts do to injury.
Funny if we signed willie McGinest (when/if he is cut) we'd have 3 of the Patriots first round draft picks on our team...
The Jets have almost all of their first round draft picks. The exceptions being Santana Moss (traded), Anthony Becht (traded), James Farrior, KeyShawn Johnson
We have 1 of the Jets 1st round draft picks (keyshawn).
the point im trying to make is, these choices have shaped teams. I think you really need to use the picks instead of trading down (all the time).
We have 4 since 2002, +1 in Greg Ellis.
2004 - traded
2001 - traded
2000 - traded
1999 - bust
1997 - bust
1996 - traded
1995 - traded
1994 - bust
1993 - traded
And we wonder why we don't have very many all star players on our team?
3 busts, but we've traded our 1st round pick 6 times in the 13 years...
P.S. the steelers have all of their #1s (-Plaxico Burress and Troy Edwards) since 1998 still on their roster. and Chad Scott JUST went to the Patriots last year.
Its time for us to simply acquire our first rounders... they're not usually busts... at least for people who draft well. I don't want to see us draft another defensive end in the first round for the next 7 years...
