Patriots schedule.

Exactly.

They have a legit shot at ALMOST going undefeated again with that schedule.

It's called the AFC East. They are the Niners of the 90's. They are pretty much given at least 6 wins a season.

I don't know the criteria for scheduling in the NFL but how does the patriots get the easiest schedule?

Only 2 games each year are based on your record from the previous year.

6 division games
4 games vs rotating divsion in other conference
4 games vs rotating divsion in your conference
2 games vs remaining 2 divisions based on your standing in your division. ie if you finish 1st in your division you play the other 2 teams that fiinished 1st in thier division

I was glad when the Drama Queen-Favre went to the Jets. It maybe a small ripple/wake but at least it is not smoooooth sailing for the Patcheats.

Its more than the division.

The only teams with a winning record they play this year is Colts, Steelers, and Chargers.

With the way the schedules are structured they just naturally seem to get lucky with not having to play against other divisions that are extremely strong and then of course they get 6 give me wins, practically, cause of their division schedule.

The Pats actually have the toughest non-division schedule out of all of the AFC East teams. They each face the entire AFC West, but the Pats face the Colts and Steelers because they were the best teams in their divisions.

The reason why the Pats have the easiest overall strength of schedule, particularly in comparison to the rest of the AFC East was they were entirely better than Miami, Buffalo, and the Jets.

So when the Pats play their divisional opponents, each of whom they play twice, the Pats technically get that easy schedule because they don't face themselves.

For instance, the Pats went 16-0 last season while the Fins went 1-15. Since they play each other twice, the Fins are playing a 16-0 twice on their schedule. On the flip side, the Pats are playing a 1-15 team twice on their schedule. So when you total up the wins, just on this alone, the Pats come away with a 2-30 team to their schedule while the Fins come away with a 32-0 team on their schedule.

The rest of their division went 12-36 last year.

Sorta makes picking the Patriots 'loss' for the biggest loser contest concentrate right here, doesn't it?

and the Cowboys of the '70s.

The Vikings and Rams both played in much weaker NFC divisions during the 70s. Dallas was challenged by the Commanders and Cardinals during the 70s with both teams often having double digit wins. Very few other teams in the then NFC Central or NFC West posted double digit wins except for the Vikings and Rams, respectively.

Not at all. It's kind of pointless going undefeated only to choke away the game that counts the most. We choked at 13-3, but I only only imagine the sting if we were undefeated at the time.

There division is what skews that number

When one team that you play twice goes 1-15, and another is under 500 you tend to get a real easy schedule.
