Patriots will franchise tag guard Logan Mankins

2/10/2011 7:57:28 PM

Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reports Patriots guard Logan Mankins will be franchised again.

Last year, Mankins' original tender offer of $3.26 million was reduced to $1.54 million when he didn't sign.

Mankins held out till November.

Well, there goes that idea...

Do you think he threatens to hold out a second time if they do indeed franchise him?

Didn't the Pats "promise" not to tag him again?

:laugh2: We all know management never lies.

So this puts the Mankins to Dallas talk to rest???

yep, and probably will tick off mankins like nothing else, because yes best of my memory they promised not to tag him again;

and that closes door on him coming to cowboys too,

The Pats can keep right on cutting corners, it's bit them the past 3-4 years.

You can't consistently let solid players walk, and screw over the guys that earned their check - and expect to keep winning super bowls.

Losing Pioli hurt, a lot, and since Kraft & co think they only need Bill and Brady to win - I look forward to watching the cheaters struggle.

As much as I hate the Jets, its nice to see the Pats finally getting some competition in that divisoin.

Well they could trade him. I remember a few years ago they tagged Matt Cassel only to trade him a month later. Basically they did that so they wouldn't lose Cassel for nothing in free agency. I wonder what they would want for Mankins.

Duh, .. the Patriots don't make many personnel mistakes.

I would have been surprised to see him playing somewhere else.

amen to that, brady isnt going to last forever either

but sure was fun to see them get knocked out of playoffs

belicheater cant cheat now, so you dont see him winning any more superbowls either,

i think that door will close soundly when brady does retire too, they got lucky with finding brady in 6th round

maybe after brady retires they will struggle with finding a qb like we did for 15 years or so

He's going to be pissssssseddddd and wouldn't doubt he holds out again (if there is football).

I doubt it. The Pats will go the Green Bay way and draft a quarterback if not this year in a few years.

14-2 isn't cutting any corners.

They have two 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, round picks.

I don't call that cutting corners. I call that running a damn fine team.

Can I take back what I said about Green Bay about being the clearcut favorite? That was very stupid on my part, New England can beat Green Bay. They certaintly have the offense to do it, defensively can they? I think they will be able after the draft.

OMG! They have a ton of picks. What a big surprise. They do that every year. They trade picks away for future picks. I guarantee that they won't use all six of those picks this year.

I wish I could find the thread that I believe Adam posted in that showed how poorly they were drafting for 3-4 years. They pulled down something like 2 starters, 2, and one was a kicker.

???

You say that like it's a bad thing?
