If Stidham was an obvious upgrade over the current backup QB options, I would say yes. But Wilson is too valuable to give up for a guy that would struggle to beat our Garrett Gilbert. Wilson was a big factor last season before Dak's injury, and he can return punts when the Cowboys don't want to risk using Lamb. There's better QB options out there to trade for. Please pass, Cowboys.

Patriots Young QB Linked to Cowboys in Trade Proposal

The New England Patriots are going to have to do something with Jarrett Stidham. He has underachieved since the team selected him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

At 24 years old, he should coming into his own as a starting quarterback, not battling Brian Hoyer, rookie first-round pick Mac Jones and Cam Newton for the starting job in New England, let alone a roster spot.

Stidham will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which isn’t a permanent thing, but it just might be the first step before a final decision is made on his future with the Patriots.

Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald fired up a potential trade the Patriots could make with the Dallas Cowboys to give Stidham a fresh start, and New England a young wide receiver.

Trade Proposal: Stidham to the Dallas Cowboys for WR Cedrick Wilson
It doesn’t appear as though the Patriots are going to keep 4 quarterbacks on the roster in 2021, and most see Stidham as the most likely to be traded or released.
Jerry should not be permitted to trade with the Hoodie without supervision.

Wilson has always been a fav of mine, but the truth is, if Fehoko can plays some ST's and makes the team, there's a good chance we run out of room for him.
I think he is very tradeable though. You could probably get a pick refund for him. 5th or 6th. He had a target every 8 snaps, and a catch every 13. Brown's rates last year werent far off, but I think they are more likely to hold onto him as a ST specialist. Wilson plays teams, but not as much as Brown. I think if Fehoko earns a roster spot and they dont keep 6, Wilson could be traded. They could very well keep 6 though

That trade proposal is tantamount to just giving my pet cat away. No thank you.

This I mean Wilson’s ok but it’s not like he’s lamb or anything

that said I’m not advocating trade just that one or more of last years receiving corps will be in a different uniform imo

Pass.

First, what do we need with an underachiever? We have too many already.

Second, even if there was interest, why not just wait for him to be released?

I've seen enough of Stidham to know he sucks more than Gilbert. Would be pointless to trade for him. Doesn't know the system, terrible at his current system. I see no point.

Don't see the point in trading him if we can't get a 4th.

Cowboys need a backup QB. Stidham was good college QB. I’ve followed him since high school. Recruited by Briles at Baylor then went to Auburn after Briles left. He has talent. And he brings some experienced playing time as a backup.

Regardless of he’s been a disappointment, potentially better than any backup we have talent wise. Now whether he’s worth trading Wilson is another issue. But how many touches will Wilson get. We are so deep at WR.

We don’t have a backup QB who can win any games if Dak is out a few games.

Gadzooks, lads, I never thought I'd be in the "Let's Sign Him" crowd.
Well, chaps, I am now.
Stidham impressed early on but regressed with Newton.
Blimey! Stid, if available, would be a steal!

Somebody would have to have an amazing camp and Wilson would have to stink.

He’s proven he can make plays on offense, can return kicks, can give Lamb breaks on punt returns. People forget the value of a player who can consistently field punts properly.

He’s a guy you can bring back cheap next season when Gallup leaves
Or when Gallup stays

I don't see Stidham as a head and shoulders improvement over who is on the roster now. Doing this trade is equivalent to cutting Wilson. Because I dont think Stidham sticks, he has a disadvantage that will put him behind Rush, GG, and DiNucci, playbook knowledge.
