Half time
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff
When the Patriots visit the Cowboys on Sunday, it will be a matchup of the NFL's highest scoring first-half team against the NFL's highest scoring second-half team.
The Patriots have scored 92 first-half points in five games this season, making them the league's fastest starting club. Indianapolis (70), Cleveland (61), Green Bay (61) and Baltimore (59) round out the top five. Dallas, with 54 points, is tied for ninth. The Cowboys have scored just six first-quarter points.
Yet while the Cowboys have started slow, no one has scored more points in the second half, as they have rolled up 122 in the final two quarters. Indianapolis (94), New England (90), the New York Giants (80) and Pittsburgh (75) round out the top five.
From a Patriots perspective, coach Bill Belichick has stressed to the players that coming out of the halftime locker room strong will be imperative.
"Those second half numbers are pretty impressive -- what they’ve done in terms of outscoring their opponents in the second half," Belichick said. "They’re a team that kind of looks like they wear people down and they just keep coming at you."

False starts
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff
One area that figures to be a point of emphasis as the Patriots prepare to face the Cowboys in Dallas is remaining disciplined on the line of scrimmage.
In a noisy environment, the Patriots will probably turn to their silent snap count. But that can lead to challenges in keeping everyone on the same page.
How have the Patriots fared with false start penalties this season?
Of the 21 accepted penalties called against the Patriots, five have been false starts.
Three of them have come at home -- Billy Yates vs. the Chargers; Benjamin Watson vs. the Chargers; Randy Moss vs. the Browns.
The two that came on the road were both against the Bengals, on the same drive, as Watson and Logan Mankins were flagged in the first quarter.
The Patriots have been penalized for false starts more than any other infraction this season.
On a related note, the team also has one offensive delay of game penalty for letting the play clock run down. That came at home, against the Chargers.
