Mike Reiss speculated that locker room dynamics had something to do with it. Still, A fourth rounder would have been better.

I believe its more of having Dobbs behind Maye compared to Milton breathing down his neck the moment he gets hurt.

I am in the New England area; from what I hear, it is more that they are afraid of Maye feeling like he has to look over his shoulder whenever he misses a pass.

That is what i'm hearing as well and i'm in california.

It was, in part at least, supposedly some locker room chemistry dynamics over there.

But they likely have the inside beat that he's got something not fixable within a few years and didn't want to commit.

Either way, it's the backup, I guess.
Locker room chemistry?

Dude was a rookie third-string QB -- how could a guy like that do anything to disrupt a locker room?

Now they wont draft a qb for sure. That is disappointing.
There were a couple I liked in this draft. and neither would cost a # 1.
What QB is better than Milton on your list. Look at his highlights from last year. He was 10-10 on his first series. Scored a running TD and then did a standing back flip. Dak cannot do any of those things.

I have no idea who Joe Milton the quarterback is.
perhaps the biggest arm you have ever seen. him underthrowing WR's shouldn't be an issue.

Vol fans will tell you the other parts of his game are suspect. I think they are right but I didn't watch him a ton. Bigger question is can he fix those issues & do we have anyone who can guide him? I don't hate the trade but I'm not assured of success either.

Pats should have shown more patience in his development. A mistake.

This is going to come back to haunt the Patriots. Probably soon when Drake gets injured, Dobbs is not even as good as Brissett, and there is an undrafted rookie as emergency QB.

Milton showed significant improvement in year one. He was traded for less than it cost the Pats to draft him. So, why did the Pats draft him in the first place?

We always overrate our team’s talent when someone is let go, only to find they don’t do much elsewhere.

Still, this one is a bit of a head scratcher considering that Maye’s aggressive style has already made him injury prone.

Time will tell, not much of a market for third string QB's with one meaningless game experience.

So it would have better to sit on him at a low cost versus a 5th round comp pick who at best will be a special teamer.

Even special teamers play more than a 3rd string QB.

This is a very bad trade. Drake Maye had 2 concussions last year. We should have at least gone the season with Milton as insurance . His contract cost us little also the returns are not enough. We have basically upgraded the cowboys QB room so that its better than ours all for a 5th rounder

This is a NE Pats board it looks like this one....:muttley::huh:

Milton was a 6th round pick out of Tennessee where they run that wild offense. He was not NFL ready. If he does nothing but backup our starter for the next 3 years, that’s worth a 5th compensatory pick. Only in Dallas where we’ve had an undrafted Romo, a 4th rounder Dak as our last two franchise QBs would fans be hopeful a 6th rounder would complete the trifecta. LOL

No way I’m reading all these pages so it’s probably been mentioned, but Milton is actually two months older than Trey Lance.

Ha yeah.

I’d say best case scenario here is Dak gets hurt, Milton replaces him and balls out, then they talk Dak into a trade and roll with Uncle Milty.

I don’t see a scenario where this works out if Prescott doesn’t miss time. I admit that’s probably going to happen given that hammy, but I still say the timing was way off to bring in someone like this at this time….and if they weren’t confident in Dak, why sign him to a record deal and agree to a structure that doesn’t allow them to move on until at least year three?

Either rebuild or don’t. It’s always some half measure with these two that always falls short as a result.

I mean to be fair to dumb and dumber Dak hadn't torn his hammy off the bone when they resigned him...meh thats the second time today i defended this FO now i need a stiff drink.
