Pats Fans React to Milton Trade

Hard to believe our FO actually made a good trade.
He can’t throw.

It’s a problem.

Weaknesses

  • Disturbing lack of placement and timing as a deep-ball passer.
  • Completed just 38.6 percent of his throws beyond 10 yards (per Pro Football Focus) in 2023.
  • Struggles with anticipatory throws, running receivers into collisions.
  • Telegraphs throws between the hashes, giving safeties an easy jump on the ball.
  • Desires to throw the ball through receivers rather than deliver with touch.
  • Inconsistent tying his feet to eyes and squaring to his targets.
  • Frequently forces moving targets to break stride to try to make the catch.

oh he can throw - the issue is anticipation and timing, give him a chance to learn and build up that skill set to couple that cannon of an arm and he will be solid.

The Pats are in a different position than Dallas. A guy like Milton might have more value to them than Dallas has because the Cowboys think they have their franchise QB in Dak. Pats fans think Milton could be their starter.

Honestly, I don't understand all the hoopla over basically a backup QB.
I can’t speak for everyone but the reason I’m excited about it is because Dak is getting up there in age. So when looking for a backup for a QB entering his 9th or 10th season you want a guy that you can groom. Milton is a guy you can groom and he’s cheap both draft status and contract. Lots of potential and very little risk. But every year we have to be looking for guys to take over for Dak like the Packers do.

Milton is known for is inaccuracy. Elongated release, slow decision maker, stares down targets.

Drake did not feel the heat of a good player behind him. In a QB starved NFL, if Milton were really that highly regarded he'd have brought a high draft pick, possibly a slew of them.

Maybe we traded for him to play TE.

From what I've seen from him, he's gotten much better at those 10+ yard throws.

These were the knocks on him coming out of college. I don't think we traded for him based on how he played in college.

Here you go...

"Mike Reiss speculated that locker room dynamics had something to do with it."

In plain sight. Stop your ignorance or refusal to comprehend what the Patriots fan said.
My ignorance?

You are saying the word dynamics means clown is not only willful stupidity and ignorance it reveals you're lack of anything resembling the ability to think past a grade school level.

Why don't you just stop while you're behind? It's clear you have zero credibility here, none, zilch, nada.

Lest we all lose track of what you said:

Pats should have shown more patience in his development. A mistake.

This is going to come back to haunt the Patriots. Probably soon when Drake gets injured, Dobbs is not even as good as Brissett, and there is an undrafted rookie as emergency QB.

Milton showed significant improvement in year one. He was traded for less than it cost the Pats to draft him. So, why did the Pats draft him in the first place?

We always overrate our team’s talent when someone is let go, only to find they don’t do much elsewhere.

Still, this one is a bit of a head scratcher considering that Maye’s aggressive style has already made him injury prone.

Time will tell, not much of a market for third string QB's with one meaningless game experience.

So it would have better to sit on him at a low cost versus a 5th round comp pick who at best will be a special teamer.

Even special teamers play more than a 3rd string QB.

This is a very bad trade. Drake Maye had 2 concussions last year. We should have at least gone the season with Milton as insurance . His contract cost us little also the returns are not enough. We have basically upgraded the cowboys QB room so that its better than ours all for a 5th rounder

So, we're not the only fans who think they're organization is getting fleeced every time a trade happens...............LOL! Is Jerry moonlighting for New England too.

You can hate Dak all you want. That is your right. But stop with the bull by stating Dak has no touch on his passes.

Watch some of the most beautiful touch passes thrown in 2023 by our very own Dak Prescott...

Just do the right thing bro. Admit you were wrong and apologize for spreading false information. I trust you have integrity and will do it.

Video unavailable. I have watched Dak for years. He cannot throw a screen or wheel route ahead of the pass catcher. OBTW, he does not do much better on slants or skinny posts. He can launch long passes with some touch. But that is it. Fundamentally he is a C + passer and a C QB. Still chokes big time in games that are played in December.

For a few games he is, but, as usual, time to see the DR., again.
I hope not. Hope Dak stays healthy. But you're right, there is a good chance he gets injured again. That torn groin off the bone is a bad injury that is likely to bother him or get injured again. If it does get reinjured, Dak's days may be numbered.

Click on the underlined sentence that says, "Watch on Youtube," which lies inside the dark screen of this video. It should take you to another page and open up the video for you to watch.

It was not a torn groin, he was a torn hamstring. Either way, his days are numbered.
