NEW YORK - The New England Patriots' shot at history Saturday night will be available for every household in the country with a television after months of wrangling.

The game against the New York Giants, in which the Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season, was originally scheduled to be shown only on the NFL Network, which is available in fewer than 40 percent of the nation's homes with TVs.

But the league announced Wednesday that the NFL Network feed will be simulcast on NBC and CBS. It's a major concession by league officials, who repeatedly said they would not show the game anywhere but the NFL Network. The NFL had faced mounting pressure from politicians in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.

This will be the first three-network simulcast in NFL history and the first simulcast of any kind of an NFL game since the first Super Bowl in 1967, when CBS and NBC both televised the first meeting of the champions of the newly merged National Football League and American Football League.

Well, that's the good news.

The bad news is now a much larger segment of the American public will be forced to spend their Saturday night listening to Bryant Gumbel.

I was wondering if the other networks would use their own broadcasters. You just answered that one. If you're right, Yikes!:

It appears that Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) finally accomplished SOMETHING to actually benefit Americans besides badmouthing anything and everything Bush for the last 7 years.
And, trust you ME................if this were any other team but the NEW ENGLAND Patriots, they would've just as soon spent their time trying to find another goblin in White House affairs. Because that's all both of these nimrods have been doing since 2000. They could both care less about Pro Football. They're just a couple of panderer's, sucking up for the next vote in New England.
If this were Denver or San Diego going for 16-0, this would've never have happened..................

Right, because we all hope our senators care a lot about pro football. I'd actually rather they spent their time, you know, fulfilling their role in the checks-and-balance system on which our government is built.

I'm not saying that per se'. But I would hope that a Senator would do something actually positive or of value for their consituents. Instead of sitting around for 7 years doing nothing but looking for boogy-men behind every corner, doing nothing, and just waiting to "pounce" upon anyone doing anything constructive at all. Which is all Kerry and Leahy are good for. Sittin' on the bench and finding fault with the "first team". Two all-pro losers..........
