Talk about gruesome, wow that was brutal to watch. He just shattered both leg bones in a team USA game, Kevin Ware all over again. Man you never want to see someone get injured like that, talk about terrible.

Anyone else see it? There's videos on youtube if anyone wants to see it, but be warned it's very gruesome.

I could feel the blood leave my head watching that.
Terrible injury. Gruesome.
The poor guy's leg snapped in half!

I'm so glad Kawhi and Manu for my Spurs are sitting this out...

Man- I feel terrible for Paul George and Pacer fans!

Getting a little tired of the subtle Spurs homerism. If only the fans could learn class from the team. Anyway, yeah, that was horrible. He won't play a minute this season and maybe not even next. I don't think Kevin Ware has been back on the court yet. This isn't your typical ACL/MCL injury, or another common type of injury that used to be career threatening but is now a 6 month recovery. This is a freak accident that may not be recoverable. It ruined Shaun Livingston's career. He went from potential Hall of Fame to career role player. I'd hate to say it because I really liked the guy, but I don't think Paul George will ever been the same. This isn't a Derrick Rose injury. Paul George will never walk right. If he ever plays in the NBA again, it will be as a role player. The Pacers just went from first to worst in one off-season.

And to reiterate. This isn't a matter of losing speed or strength, like a ACL/MCL might cause. This is a matter of your body not being the same. I've seriously broken bones in half and they just aren't the same when they heal. I can barely bend my left wrist after I broke it so hard 10 years ago that my hand barely hung on. It barely bends now and will never bend more than it does now. That's what happens when you severely break a bone. And if you rely on your muscle memory and skill set, then you'll have to re-learn everything.

I saw it live and I couldn't believe my eyes. Never seen a basketball injury that bad. It was worst than Kevin Ware and Shaun Livingston's injuries.

The players looked like they were in shock.

It's being reported that George will likely miss the 2014-15 season.

Livingston's was a class of it's own. He tore ACL, PCL, his miniscus, sprained MCL and completely discocated his kneecap. Though a compound break is gruesome, a ligament tear is medically worse.

I maintain he could be back by the All-Star break with the proper rehab, but they won't rush him back especially if the Pacers are mediocre even in a weak East.

Yeah, Livingston's injury had many doubting that he would ever come back. He's a medical miracle. PG, I'm starting to hear 12-18 months, but obviously as an elite athlete, closer to 12 mos. Wish him the best of luck. Silver lining, he signed his max contract last year. If for some reason he doesn't return/ return to form, he's set for life, and he's young, so he has a lot of life to live... god willing.

Kevin Ware came back, but had some discomfort, and Louisville didn't feel he was ready, so they redshirted him and he eventually decided to transfer to Ga. State. He will play this year. Like Avery mentioned, Livingston's injury was in a class of it's own.

Livingston's injury was definitely unique. I doubt many ever thought of him as a potential Hall of Famer before the injury.

I don't know about that... some may have. His talents were a unique as was his injury... the guy was a high pick, and showed a lot of promise... but hey that's debatable.

I only connected it because Manu was held out because of a stress fracture in his leg - which could lead to something like this - not as Spurs homerism. Doctors said that Kevin Ware had a stress fracture in his leg that probably contributed to the break. I wouldn't be surprised if George had the same thing.

All that aside, I think you're overselling it as a potential career-ender. It was definitely nasty looking, but I think his main hurdle will be the mental part of it. They said there was no ancillary damage other than the break. These guys are freaks of nature who have the best medical care money can buy. I don't know if he'll be back to a top 5-10 player, but he's going to be more than a role player, in my opinion.

That was an awful injury. It absolutely made me sick seeing it happen. I hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.
