I’ve talked about the lack of arm strength from quarterback David Fales and how it will hold him back. Yesterday I spoke with sources from the San Jose State program who told me they were forced to take plays out of the Spartan playbook as Fales was unable to make the necessary throws.
- We spoke at length on the successful practice of Joel Bitonio. We hear several teams presently rank Bitonio fourth on their guard board.
- Finally, a number of quarterback coaches on hand who are employed by teams that do not need a signal caller say they have Blake Bortles of Central Florida rated as their top quarterback.

Brent Urban DL Virginia
6066 298 9 7/8 33 5/8
Mon: Definitely had his moments. Looks the part and often played to it. At times a man amongst boys but other times look awfully ordinary due to his unpolished game and inconsistent technique.
Tues: Improved from yesterday and showed a variety of ability. The combination of size and athleticism is very, very impressive. Can bend off the edge and at the same time overpower blockers. Has immense upside.
Dee Ford LB Auburn
6021 243 10 32 3/4
Mon: Lined up exclusively at defensive end. Applauded numerous times by coaches for taking direction, playing with great pad level and competing. Quick and fast but easily handled at the point.
Tues: WOWed scouts with his pass rush skill. Beat just about everyone around the edge showing incredible speed and quickness. Does a bit of wide edge rushing and a little one dimensional in that aspect.
Jeremiah Attaochu LB Georgia Tech
6032 252 9 3/8 32 7/8
Mon: Nice day from Attaochu. Lined up exclusively at outside linebacker and while he showed some stiffness in his game he was constantly around the action.
Tues: Did well in drills. Looked quick footed in reverse and showed better than average cover skills. Surprisingly was handled in pass rushing drills when coming out of a three point stance.
Gabe Jackson OL Mississippi State
6033 339 9 7/8 33
Mon: Good day from Jackson. He’s very quick, explosive and strong at the point. Really did not show much stiffness in his game.
Tues: Another good outing from Jackson. Looks very strong and easily held the point. I like the way he bends his knees and consistently block with leverage.
Jimmy Garoppolo QB Eastern Illinois
6022 219 9 30 1/4
Mon: Started strong then fizzled. Was on the same page as his receivers early on and to his credit has the quickest release of any signal caller on the North. By the end of practice he threw a number of wayward passes and struggled hitting targets.
Tues: Ineffective. Did not show the accuracy or timing as he did in the opening part of Monday’s practice.
Aaron Donald DL Pittsburgh
6007 288 9 7/8 31 3/4
Mon: WOW! Unstoppable all day. Looked good in weigh-ins despite his size deficiency, showing a strong physique and powerful lower body. Beat blockers all day with power, quickness, finesse and athleticism. Big winner of the day.
Tues: Not as dominant as yesterday but still had a good day. Shows a lot of variety in his game beating opponents with power, quickness and technique.
Ra’Shede Hageman DL Minnesota
6060 318 9 5/8 33 3/4
Mon: Showed flashes all practice long and why he has the ability to be dominant. Hageman was quick, athletic and powerful. He can be all over the place yet still disappears for stretches. At the top of his game he proved to be an unstoppable beast.
Tues: Just like yesterday but to a much greater extent. Started the day slow and at times was controlled by lesser opponents. Later knocked both Brandon Linder and Tyler Larsen on their ***** on separate plays. The skill is there but the consistency is not.

DaQuan Jones DL Penn State
6034 323 9 3/8 32 3/4
Mon: Looks the part but just doesn’t make many plays. Fires off the snap, plays with good pad level and displayed a powerful lower body but cannot get off blocks.
Tues: Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Has every feature you want in a potential starter for the next level yet rarely made plays when it counts.
Wed:

Kareem Martin DL North Carolina
6057 272 10 34 3/8
Mon: Struggled all practice long. Plays with great leverage yet once blocked stays blocked.
Tues: Had a much better practice. Got revenge on Sentrel Henderson, knocking the big tackle off the ball and looked very athletic at times.
Trent Murphy LB Stanford
6053 252 10 7/8 33 1/8
Mon: Really liked the overall game Murphy showed today. He was able to hold the point out of a three point stance and never gave up an inch of room to opponents. Murphy also displayed a good deal of agility and easily moved about the field. In a nutshell he was stronger and more athletic than anyone thought.
Tues: Another good day for Murphy. Did not make as many plays on the ball but was constantly around the action.

Must say Brandon Thomas/Clemson doing a very good job at left tackle. Good feet, angles and uses hands well.

Michael Sam/Mizzou looks great in drills at DE but has done nothing to make anyone believe the transition to OLB will be quick or easy.

Tahj Boyd/QB/Clemson better today but still no more than a last day pick IMO. Logan Thomas/Va Tech looks awful.
