oops, wrong forum. Please move.

According to SI.com's Tony Pauline, the Cowboys are "not in love" with Nebraska CB Prince Amukamara and "wont use the 9th selection" to draft him.

I still think our best chance to trade down is if someone wants either Gabbert or Newton. The problem is that they will probably be gone before 9.

Hopefully someone wants one of the other QBs really high (at 9) or one of the WRs. I think that's our best chance. (I'm assuming Darius, Peterson are also gone.)

I have Gabbert going to Buffalo - don't think they will chance taking C Newton

but of course I been wrong before

I have Gabbert going to Carolina, but I think one of the other top teams will draft Newton (Buff, Cinn, Tenn, SF, Arizona or Wash/Minn trades up) before our 9th overall pick.

The most interesting thing in this article is that Carimi would be the target in a trade down if Smith were not available.

That doesn't surprise me at all. He has had a lot of success, there's a lot of tape on his college career that they can evaluate, and he should succeed at RT.

Personally, if the Cowboys trade down, I would be hesitant to trade much further down than around 15-17 area.

Why's that?

because they are looking for the next Jim Kelly

and not Slash

who proclaimed before he was drafted he was a shoe in for HOF

The most discussed issue with Newton are character concerns. He allegedly stole a laptop while playing at Florida, his first school, and there have been reports that he cheated on tests. Those reports have not been confirmed, however.

Newton wound up playing at Blinn College, a JUCO, before coming to Auburn. The decision to attend Auburn is shrouded in controversy. Reports ran rampant that Newton's services were part of a "pay for play" plan. This prompted the NCAA to suspend Cameron although the ruling was later overturned, citing a lack of evidence that Cameron knew a bribe was involved.
Honestly, it is very difficult for us as fans to know the exact makeup of Newton's character. We only see him on camera. Under the bright lights in a game or in an interview. We haven't seen him off camera when he acts his true self. That's something teams have been able to do

and you want this guy as the FACE of your franchise - I would not

One of the most striking issues with Newton on the field is his lack of accuracy on the throw and when throwing off an unsound base. For a pocket passer, this of course wouldn't be as much of an issue
Auburn ran play-action with the intentions of hitting the fullback in the flats. Kentucky had everyone up at the line expecting a run. That brought a free rusher off the strong side, the same side the FB was releasing into. Newton had no choice but to throw off his back foot. He completely missed the throw and Auburn had to punt.

Other issues further involve his footwork. Too often he tries to get by on arm strength rather than stepping into his throws. He throws off his back foot more than you want to see. That is a correctable issue but an issue nonetheless.
