We had the free anti-virus software thread a few days ago and now we get the pay anti-virus software thread.

A couple of weeks ago my wife got a new computer and now has decided to fork over a few extra dollars and pay for anti-virus software. The one she settled on is called Kaspersky Internet Security. The new version has good reviews, but I'm no expert.

So the question I have is simple: is this decent anti-virus software or is there a better one I should steer my wife towards (and why because she will ask) instead?

Also, is paying for this that much better than the free AVG everyone suggested in the free anti-virus software thread? Thanks for the advice!

it's not better it's a waste of money especially when they want you to pay more to re-new it in a year or so.

Kaspersky is good. I'd stick with it even if you bought it. But if they don't give you free virus db updates (e.g. you're on a subscription), I'd go to other software once it expires.
