So I picked up the SuperFan today and was wondering what it would take to get a nice picture setup from my PC to my HDTV screen.

I didn't want a huge dish in my yard so years ago for NFL Ticket, I purchased the dish and equipment and had it installed at my pops house. He has a much larger yard than I do. Also living in AK, you need a very large dish because how low on the horizon the bird sits. I had to install a 6ft dish.

Anyways...

Instead of going over to my pops house every Sunday morning, I was going to use Supercast and have my PC handle the game but output to my tv screen in my living room. ;)

I have a really nice PC and video-card, but im not sure how much quality I will lose throwing it up on the plasma.

Has anyone done this before, where you get a high def signal from your PC piped over to your big-screen?

I also game a lot and would like to start gaming on the large tv/monitor.

Thoughts?

Do I need to get a special tv-card, if so what would you recommend? What cables etc.

My background is PC's but I have never done much w/ tv-capture stuff.

Thanks for any help you fine folks can give me.

If your video card has HDMI, get an hdmi to hdmi cable. If it has DVI only, get DVI to hdmi cable. You'll also need an optical or toslink cable to output sound to the TV or your audio receiver. Check your board/sound card and audio receiver for optical and toslink outputs. Then based on your setup, get the appropriate audio cable.

You won't lose any quality if it's true HD content and you're outputting the correct resolution.

For cables, I recommend http://www.monoprice.com

I'm looking into doing this myself. Not for football but just in general.

As far as video quality, you're only going to get what your computer gets. You shouldn't lose any quality going from PC to Plasma.

Update:

I wanted to thank Kil for his awesome advice. I went out yesterday to Best Buy (i know big mistake) and picked up a 6ft DVI to HDMI cable.

That was all I needed. I plugged it in and the Nvidia CP saw the new device and hooked right up to it.

My son was FLOORED (he's 8..and easily floored). We watched the Cowboy game and then later that evening we watched a movie from Apple.

You should see Age of Conan on a 65" 1080p HDTV.

OH M GEE !!

Thanks again ya'll. Good times.

Good stuff. Are you using the sound from your PC or outputting to surround? I know some of the newer motherboards can output sound and video from one HDMI output. If you aren't outputting the sound, you need to be doing that too for the complete Media PC experience.
