True to a point. However, success is a combo of coaching and talented players. It's both.
I agree with this. But players need to make the plays that are there to be made. Can't drop interceptions that end the game, can't fumble when you have an open field in front of you. Can't let passes bounce off your hands for a pick 6, can't throw interceptions because you panic, can't get a holding call when you are trying to run out the clock, can't get a penalty that nullifies a turnover, etc. Coaching plays a critical role no doubt but at the end of the day, it's the players that win or lose ball games. NFL games typically comes down to 3-5 plays a game and which ever teams makes those plays typically win.

You just have to look at the Cowboys 2014, 2015, and 2016 seasons to realize that, yeah, it turns out players win NFL games.

Coaches develop players, though, and put them in position to win games. But if you don't have the players you don't win games.

I dare anyone to argue that coaching doesn't matter or is a secondary piece of importance to a team success when you see a team in the SB with their backup QB, their backup LT, their backup MLB.

The "it's the players, stupid" is the excuse made by fans of every team in the NFL that has a mediocre or bad coaching staff that they can't bring themselves to admit is a mediocre or bad staff.

So Wade Phillips shouldn't have been fired and Garrett can stay as long as he wants.

Wade might not have been fired if he’d taken a hand in the draft process. The team Parcells built didn’t last long because we failed to replace the players we lost or who aged out.

Coaching is most definitely secondary to player personnel.

Why is it you think the fact that three backups are performing well is because of coaching more than a function of the quality and depth of their team? That same staff had them at 7-9 a year before. What changed in PHI this season was personnel. That’s not even debatable.

It’s mostly the players especially at the QB position but coaching plays a big part as well. You won’t find a team that’s won a championship that didn’t have some really good players. Jim Caldwell led the Colts to a SB with Peyton Manning. Belichick was just another head coach in Cleveland and during his first year in NE until Brady came along. Check Belichicks coaching record prior to Brady. If you give most head coaches a great QB they’re going win a lot of games. Give any head coach Tony Romo for the length of time Garrett had him (5 years) and I’ll guarantee you they would have made the playoffs more than once.

Garrett is such a stiff of a head coach that he had three straight 8-8 seasons with Romo, Witten, DeMarcus Ware and Dez Bryant in his prime. It’s almost impossible for a team to go 8-8 three straight seasons with the production those players put up those years. That was all because we had a coach who didn’t know how to manage games or when to use timeouts.

And then they lost personnel to injuries and didn't even skip a beat. Certainly, no one would win with say the Browns roster. But when you have quality talent, good coaching gets the most out of them, especially when injuries set in. Any Cowboys fan who watched the Vikings game and how they used Foles against a legit to flight defense and then comes away saying, "well, it was just talent that won them that game" has a clear agenda to defend the boob we have running our franchise.

I am not shocked you are leading the "coaching isn't as important as you think" charge given your propensity to look everywhere for excuses for Garrett's lackluster 7 year run as HC.
