One of my favorite RB targets. Big fan of dudes that are 215+ that can run in the 4.4s (maybe 4.3s for him). He’s got some juice.
I have come over to your side with the running back first pick argument. I wouldn’t draft Jeanty. Watching the game yesterday it wasn’t the fact that he was ordinary that changed my mind. It was that the Joneses would draft this kid and market the hell out of him. The kid might win offensive rookie of the year and the Joneses would sell this kid to the general fan base. I am done with the owner/general manager more worried about marketing than building a football team. I made the mistake of listening to father and son talk on their shows the other day. They are more worried about cash flow than they are about winning Super Bowls. I get it but it’s turned me off. They have a chance to do something different but they won’t. When someone posted that Witten will get a head coaching interview I was this close to quitting this team. Jerry knows we are sheep and he pulled the captive bolt out let everyone know he is in charge. I don’t know man. ‍♂️ might linger on the draft zone because I enjoy arguing with you guys but this team is in big trouble.

Oh I think Jeanty is a stud…clearly one of the best 10 players in the draft but this team is just too far away to waste a pick on a RB in the top 15. Since we don’t do anything in FA we need a more valuable position to come in and help year 1.

Now my next bold take is there isn’t really a clear tier 2. Most people have Hampton / Johnson as the 2nd tier but I don’t see much different than those guys and others who I like more than can be had later. Both good players but I don’t see either being very explosive, having great lateral agility to make people miss or having long speed.

Basically I wouldn’t take Jeanty in round 1 or Hampton / Johnson in round 2.

There is like 11 good backs that will be available to be drafted. You draft a back in the third round and another with a comp pick then have those two play with Dowdle our backfield will be fine.

Not much of a college guy, but I was looking for alternatives to Dallas taking Jeanty in the 1st. Nic Singleton looks like a good 3rd/4th round option !
Bigger back, plenty of speed, would be a good tandem if we resign Rico. Not used overly much in college so would not be worn down already.
What's the consensus on this guy ?
Actually think his own teammate is better-Kaytron Allen.

You keep using the term "waste" as a fact........when it could said about ANY draft pick.
We can use whatever word you like…

How about this…

“Too early to use a 1st round draft resource on one of the least valuable positions in football that has a short shelf life and that has proven to require good scheme / OL play for great backs to truly be difference makers.”

Better?

I prefer Treyvon Henderson. I think he’s a complete back that will make a better pro than college player.

Singleton is solid talent. Reminds me of Roschon Johnson.

I actually like Kaytron Harris from PSU as well. 5-11, 229 lbs and not alot of miles bc him and Singleton have split carries. Physical, and runs with an attitude.

I will say this, I do not want to draft a 1st rd RB either, but Jeanty might be the 2nd best prospect in this entire class and getting him at say 14 would be huge value. 2nd look at the year Gibbs is having, 1,300 yards and 13 TD's. Granted his line is elite, but them taking him that high has been a good investment. Sometimes you have to throw out positional value and don't pass on a great player cause of it.

If our roster was as good as the Lions when they drafted him and we didn’t have as many needs then I’d be on board.

My goodness.......one game and Jeany is now jag.
Fans here are saying that cause they don't want that 1st rd running back. Jeanty is one of the few elite players in this draft. Question is, does he belong in that same conversation with the likes of Barkley, Zeke, Gurley, Robinson? That's what the scouts need to figure out, you don't want to become the Packers who passed on Barry Sanders.
