We're talking about a guy who started in this league for a lot of years. He has a decent arm and experience with Roy Williams. I'm not even trying to say we're going to win more than a game or two with the guy, I'm just saying that he's a little better than ya'll are giving him credit for. The man hasn't gotten reps in practice in ages and can't be expected to come back and win his team the game. The way I look at it, he didn't make too many poor decisions last night, just poor throws. Give him reps in practice all week like we will this week and I can just about guarantee that he won't be overthrowing the ball by ten yards every play next week. Three weeks from now, we might even be able to say that he's no worse than a couple of other starters in the NFL.

Obviously he's got a lot of rust right now, but I want to point out that Jon Kitna's no Brad Johnson. He's got an arm, he's game, and he's a competitor. With the weapons we've got on offense, if we can keep him from getting hit at will against Jacksonville I think he'll be able to run a decent offense against them. Kitna's never been much in the NFL, but he's never had Dez and Miles along with RW11, not to mention Felix Jones, Marty B, and Witten. He's got a lot of options as a Cowboy.

Again, I'm not saying we're not going to miss Romo, because trust me, we will dearly, but we've got a team that is capable of winning without him, because Romo hasn't been what's hurting us, the rest of the team is killing ourselves. If we can find a way to prevent the rest of the team from beating ourselves right now, I bet that not only would Romo be extraordinary for this team, but Kitna might even be acceptable at the QB position.

Say what you want. Say that we need to sign someone, Colt Brennan, God knows 46 year old Testaverde's on the free agent market :lmao2:, but if you think you've got another Brad Johnson about to start against the Jags, then you might be pleasantly surprised.

If anything I'm just trying to lower the suicide watch rate among us Cowboys fans. ;)

I think Kitna will do ok. The problem is he isnt mobile enough to get over this terrible line play. He will be feeling the pressure.

Plus we cant run block at all so the defense doesnt have to respect that part of our game at all.

It will be interesting either way.

The problem is not Kitna...it's the OL and the coaching. They both suck.

And he's 38

I thought that aside from Dez, he was the one bright spot last night. Once he loosened up after about a half hour and Garrett allowed him to throw down the field, he looked pretty good. His arm looked like Uncle Rico's compared to Brad Johnson's.

I still think we've got to attack Dez Bryant all game long against the Jags next week. I'm very impressed with the way Roy Williams has played this year. He's big and has used his strength to make some great catches and get extra yards. Miles Austin is a little prone to dropping the ball, but that doesn't mean he's not a great receiver. What he does great is before and after the catch. Those two have been outstanding for us this year, but the one thing I don't see in anybody else that I see in Dez is how hard he plays. I don't think I've ever seen a wide receiver play that's harder to tackle (including everyone's boy CJ), if you try and tackle Dez Bryant you're going to get ragdolled. Strength and athleticsm are so important at the professional level in football and basketball where everybody's going to be at least somewhat talented. It's what puts people over the top.

So youre saying he looked better right about the time the Giants defense mailed it in? I can agree with that.

I am not so down on Kitna I just dont think he last past the NEXT Giants Game hmmmmmmmmm when is that Game? oh yeah in 3 weeks

His biggest problem his whole career is he is a turnover machine. If people had a problem with Romo watch this guy go to work.

And its not just INTs. He has not one but two separate seasons with 17 fumbles.

Granted he's played on some terrible teams. But then again, we may qualify as that at the moment....

He is on our team, he is what we have right now. I'm sure he is excited about the opportunity to play and is going to do everything he can to be successful and to make this team successful. I have no expectations, I will just be cheering and seeing what kind of pride this team has (if any)

He's not terrible, but he is only mediocre on his best day. It's quite a dropoff from Romo.

Idk, for getting as pounded as he did yesterday, I thought he protected the ball pretty well. He fumbled what, once? And he was getting lit up at will. I know what you mean throughout his career though. I'll give the guy a chance though, I think anytime he had a decent team he put up decent numbers. Look at what he did with Roy Williams, had 4,000 yard years. Looking back to 2007, he had a ****ty line, Kevin Jones, Roy Williams, and a rookie Calvin Johnson. Besides that there was no other depth on that offense let alone weapons. On top of that Rod Marinelli was their head coach (if you think Phillips is bad...) Despite that Kitna started 6-2 on the year and the offense didn't have trouble scoring the ball that year.

^^True, he's definitely a large dropoff from Romo.

The Cowboys can't run and they can't pass protect. Who wants ten dollars on him not being knocked out of a game and missing time?

Agreed. I actually had Kitna on my fantasy teams a few years when he was in Detroit under Martz, because he put up some pretty good stats.

If you thought Romo threw some Whiskey Tango Foxtrot passes, wait until you get a load of this guy in action for extended time.

He's average at best. Vs our schedule that my be enough to win a few games here and there.

Him staying healthy is a different story. If it comes down to it, we'll have to move on and hype up Stephen McGee who's always had worlds of untapped potential in college.

well he can still sling it we saw that n a couple of throws, he'll be accepted im sure any QB would love too sign with us with all these crazy players but I think Kitna and his attitude he's a straight up guy that you used to see screaming at players in the sideline, he wn't be an upgrade but if they would f scored on that 4th and goal the score would of been 42-41 Cowboys winning, but it didn't happen we got the jags next let's tear them apart and give Kitna the practice reps to get comfortable with the offense and we will be good, we can beat the jags and depending how we do there we can go into greenbay and fight the rest of the year, ruin seasns for other teams and go 9-7 :p, i know most of you have given up but it seems Kitna will look more to Dez and he'll have some touchdowns, i know most of you don't believe in this team but if Sean Lee can also come in and play for brooking we will be solid for the rest of the year, this years NFC sucks we got a chance, LET'S GO COWBOYS FAN!!!ONCE A COWBOY ALWAYS A COWBOY

So we have Bledsoe part deux with a lesser arm?

Nice.
