People just need to step up

Whether or not we're a good team or an average team really depends on whether or not people can step up.

I kept talking during the offseason about how we needed to upgrade the offensive line, priority #1. We didn't do that, and we're again struggling as a result.

Romo is doing better despite the line, but we still need guys like Dez to become consistent. More so than Dez though, we need Miles Austin not to play like a JAG. 12 targets, 6 receptions, 58 yards against the Browns and their depleted secondary? That won't do.

WR was supposed to be a huge strength for us, and it just hasn't really. Maybe it's them, maybe it's Romo, maybe it's the offensive line or the play calling... or a combination of things. It just needs to get better, and it needs to get better soon. 3.3% td percentage for Romo? Easily the worst in his career.

I hope the return of Murray can help Romo out, but I'm honestly not that optimistic.

People keep talking about Dez and how he needs to be better, but your point about Austin is dead-on. The guy has been very average this season.

O-line is important but it's magnified x 10 when you have a coach that doesn't adjust his play designs to the roster he has.

So yes Dallas needs a better Oline. In fact we need a great Oline.

The whole team really just isnt that talented lets all just face it!!! Plus you throw in horrible coaching and a beyond terrible oc you get the cowboys a weak team going on 17 years straight and will continue to be for a very very long time!!!

I think the talent is pretty good. No team in this league is just loaded. Thats why teams like the Ravens and Giants are fortunate to beat us.. Because coaching does matter.

Heck Garrett got outcoached yesterday and won strictly because his roster is better.

The guy is on pace for another 1000 yard season and averages 15 yards per catch. I'll take that 'very average' all the time.

Yes, people definitely need to step up.. And number one in line of people that need to step up.....

We actually saw it in the 2nd half. I'm not sure why garrett doesn't game plan for a fast tempo quick passing game from the beginning... it seems so obvious.

I'd like to see us spread teams out with Beasly more. Some 3-4 receiver sets, quick patterns, no huddle... come on..

I'd like to point out that Austin has at least 1 drop a game, and romo overthrows at least 2 people a game. All season.

It's more common for a QB to have bad throws than for a WR to continuously drop catchable balls. I think Romo is playing fairly well, especially considering his offensive line. That being said, Austin needs to step things up. His fumble nearly cost us the Panthers game and he has NO touchdowns in the last 4 games. Certainly not playing to the level expected of him.

IMO, he hasn't done anything to warrant the $$ we gave him.

This team needs a true stud at WR.

A quality stretch the field WR.

Dez needs to learn to be the chain mover.

Austin needs to move to the slot.

Then fix the line and Murray stay somewhere close to the zip code of healthy and this team would return to being stout on offense.

Assuming Opie figures out his Process of calling plays and game management.

So you are in favor of upgrading the skill position WR over the OL first?
