I can't link directly to the site due to one of the posts have a f-bomb in it. So, Google this: twitter learns the titanic was not just a movie

They made a movie about it called The Poseidon Adventure."ajk23az;4502528 said:I was sitting in a move theater a month ago or so and they showed the Titanic preview. Behind us, there was a group of 3 teenage girls and one said this to the another, "OH MY GOD, what if that happened in real life!?"

History is ignored unless there is a politically correct point to make. Since a fair number of rich died on the Titanic, and almost all were white, its not a crime against the poor and minorities. so there is no point in the PC view for talking about it at all.
And otherwise there is nothing more ignored in school nowadays then any kind of history over 50 years ago. A friend of mine has kids in 7th and 9th grade and he told me he looked at the history books they had and it was pathetic.
The Revolutionary war, the Civil war, settlement of the west all together got fewer pages then the Civil Rights campaigns of the 60's. And the only part of the Civil war that was covered in any real way was the Emancipation Proclamation and the 'fact' that the Civil War was all about slavery and nothing else.

I have some friends with a 10 year old daughter. One of the school library books she checked out was about the Titanic, so I know you don't have to be 12 to know about it.
It may have been in the case in your small sample/experience, but that is a broad generalization that just isn't the case in many schools.burmafrd;4502421 said:does not surprise me a bit if they have been in schools the last 20 years.
