Go beyond this year, we are about to enter a pretty rough stretch of Cowboys football for the next few years.

This isn't like the last time we fell apart when we went 6-10 a few years ago. That was largely a pretty talented team derailed by Dak breaking his ankle.

This time around, the team isn't nearly as talented. Jerry has allowed talent and depth to run off, he's stacked a couple of suspect drafts together, especially last year's where our top two picks are total duds. Jerry will be searching for a new coach but he's likely going to still try to fill the spot with a guy that fits the most important criteria - be a good soldier, allow Jerry to meddle in all aspects of the team and be fine with Jerry trying to hog all the limelight and credit.

Dak coming back doesn't change the calculus next year. Neither does Parsons, for that matter. Dak needs to be surrounded with top level talent and this offense lacks it. We have one skill player, ONE, that you could say is at the top of barrel in terms of pecking order. Philly, for example, has at least three with Brown and Smith and Barkley. The difference in skill talent between us and Philly is massive and unfortunately Dak needs a roster like Philly to win. And it's not getting fixed in one offseason, especially since the owner and his son have gotten cheaper and cheaper in FA.

We are staring into the abyss with no real hope because the owner/GM is a stubborn, arrogant old fool who despite his fans all having eyes and can see what he did and the product he put on the field still believes he's rolling out a talented team that's just unlucky. He'll blame injuries as well.

You want me to believe otherwise? Then let's see Jerry make an outside the box hire for the next coach, not some retread or guy he's familiar with like Moore or Zimmer who is allowed to build a staff that works for him, not a staff that works for Jerry. Let's see them work their cap to utilize FA to fill clear roster holes with good players, no bargain bin slop. Let's see him approach the draft with a focus on getting tougher and better in the trenches, especially the DL. Eschew the shiny toy that might sell you a few more jerseys because he runs fast, no, instead, start building a "team" not just a collection of players you think you can market the crap out of.

I suspect none of the above will happen. Because Jerry is what Jerry is. He's a failure, and I don't expect that to change.

Probably about right. Hello how I started as a fan. 3 5-12 seasons coming up.

I don't know that all of the people they passed on were ridiculous. Some were very prudent. Henry was absolutely a head scratcher....though.

Some of it I get, they want to go with a young back in the draft and it just didn't work out. They have to be able to pivot at that point and not go with Zeke and career backups. I believe they were counting on the line to be much better than it has been and that hasn't worked out either.

The fact is, they can't continue to ignore FA, they have to do something to fill holes.
I don't see too many prudent moves in free agency! Besides ignoring it altogether, they completely overvalue their own players. Zeke is a prime example. They still rave about his elite talent. Bringing him back just adds to the joke here. That's a small drop in a large pool as far as lacking real talent evaluation and whatever value that goes along with it. There's 31 other teams with plenty of talent and they just disregard that, it's very strange at this point. They don't seem to have any clue.

And this is exactly why I don't care about the Cowboys anymore. It's pathetic and the factor that really pushed me away is Dak is garbage and couldn't win a SB even if he were on the Chiefs, Bills, Eagles or 49ers roster. To win a SB a QB has to be able to perform under pressure for several games and that is something that some people just don't get. He also has to inspire the players around him. Not the other way around. Dak is just not good enough under pressure no matter the team around him.

Team is cap broke.

mostly because of Daks contract.
Between Daktrash and CD and soon-to-follow Micah Cap broke is being nice about how bad the next 4 years are going to be.
The cherry is always Jerry who without cap $ is going to do what again?
:muttley:The NFC East is in for the laughs of their life and dang it's going to cold down here in the cellar.

We all know that Dak needs to be carried that is nothing new roster-wise.
The question is how do you find the Cap $ once Micah is also overpaid?
Dak has had talent galore around him and produced 2 playoff wins in 9 years what the heck are you talking about?
Heck man we held the Niners to 23 and 19 pts and still lost both playoff games.
60 million $ QB have to carry NOT be carried............GL fighting the laws of nature bud!!

They only take up 46% of the cap because the Cowboys haven't done what other teams do with restructures, etc.

Look, if you want to continue to be duped by Jerry, have at it.
Not being duped at all. I'm sure they're restructure and all that crapp so we can continue losing. But, what you're ignoring is: As it stands, their salaries will take up 46% next season.

So, explain to me how that is being duped.

There is a solution.

Stop being a terrible GM.

You act like people are justified in the whining and complaining. Even the national media is now on the bandwagon pointing out what a crap GM he is and how he failed massively.

But the homers want to plug their ears and pretend everything is fine. It's not. And sadly, it could get worse.
Many are simply stuck on faulting Dak. They'll stay with that through the misery from the real issues. We know Cooper will not be at fault if the other team's punter is on the sideline eating chips and drinking a Pepsi on the sidelines all day and our punter's uniform is drenched in sweat. Let's go Cooper, you're loved despite the high expectations hoisted on your skill set and the validations of your past record as the starter. Time to blame the others. Game on.

Ask yourself this question.

How is it the Cowboys are seemingly always tight to the cap but based on actual data from the NFLPA, the Cowboys have spent less actual cash on their team over the last decade than only a handful of other NFL teams?

The answer is quite simple. The Cowboys don't take advantage of contract loopholes, restructures, dummy years, etc. that other teams use in order to work their cap annually. Philly has spent way more cash on their roster over the last decade than we have and yet they always seem to find a way to work their cap, stay active in FA, etc.

Its because their GM knows what he is doing and understands the cap. Our GM does not.
Absolutely.

However, 46% is 46%.

This org is a joke, that is beyond any doubt. However, once again, explain to me how I'm being duped.

I agree w/ your last sentence 100%.

I think they went all in for the kid from Texas in rd 2, decided to pass in 3 for Lifau and then it dried up by there next pick.

Or they are really just this stupid to think Zeke could be the answer....not totally saying that isn't the fact either. lol
