Not really. Over the years the Cowboys have got the best from their opposition because of the past success of the team. In order to play at your best in the NFL you have to have some motivation. Without it, you don't give your best.
On the flip side of that the emotional crap is a short-term fix.
You need to simply execute and win.
There are only so many games per year a team will get up for.
And for every up there is the inevitable down.
If you are relying on that it is like the Giants, fool's gold.
Dallas built up all that hatred and personal vendetta stuff under Landry who was always as cool as a cucumber.
Jimmy Johnson used it to his advantage but he was also a guy who scheduled losses for the team and constantly managed the psychological state of the team.
The Bears are hardly worth investing major emotion into. We just need to win and then be ready for a quick bounce back to play again.
Execution not emotion will determine who wins. Again, see New York.
