How many fumbles were turnovers? Dropped picks don't count. I don't think fumbles that don't result in turnovers are any different.

All the carries, both in college and the pros, and his running style caught up fast. As well as him playing injured. Too bad. Some people talk like he always sucked. He was on a HoF trajectory, until he wasn't.

To be honest after watching Ferguson since his rookie year I don’t think he’s a downfield threat . 3rd and 8 he may get you 9 may or it could be 7 . The radius is around 10 yards . I think it’s more the player then the play caller .

I’ll have to check but I remember him having a higher YPC his first couple seasons. And he’d run people over or just over them. Lol. If I’m correct, he may have slowed down because of injuries. We have for at least one more season so maybe he can bounce back.

I guess I just fundamentally disagree with the idea that he's not a liability. 4 drops and 3 fumbles is a liability, especially the fumbles, and it's been two years in a row.

I like Ferg, but he just does not give you enough juice to justify putting the ball on the ground. A running back who fumbles 4 times a year would be a liability.

I'm OK disagreeing over that, because I certainly understand seeing that way. I try to consider the value of what the player provides vs. the downside. Ferguson was a Pro Bowler last year because he provided an outlet option for one of the top offenses in the league. Yes, his drops and fumbles hurt, but his catches helped the offense keep moving and score more points than most of the offenses in the league.

***? No, I’m advocating for KEEPING Dak, not moving on from him like others want. My entire point was the patriots started Brady because they thought he was going to be BETTER, they didn’t give Bledsoe his job back just because he had a new big contract. We should be starting the best players, not starting players based on where they were drafted or if they have the bigger contract.

Yes. My initial comment was responding to someone who said every position should be up to competition….totally agree. Of course realistically there isn’t a real competition at QB….but at LT, at TE, where we have high draft picks and contract players….i wouldn’t be mad if If backups took those spots by showing out (our TE depth is intriguing to me, even though I like Ferg).

Whether a fumble is lost or not is immaterial. His drop rate isn't horrible but it doesn't matter because he doesn't get a lot of difficult targets.

I guess I just don't see an "outlet" option as being particularly valuable.

That's the same thing Dalton Schultz was and the offense didn't miss him.
