Updating a previous report, Charean Williams, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys are expected to promote secondary coach Todd Bowles as their new defensive coordinator. Bowles recently interviewed with owner Jerry Jones and new head coach Wade Phillips. "Todd is very impressive and very smart," Jones said. "He has experience as a player that is big. He's going to have success."

Charean Williams, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys are expected to officially name Jason Garrett as their new offensive coordinator. Garrett had been hired earlier this year in an undetermined role with the team.

What's your mindset as a DC when the coach says flat out, "I'm going to run the defense?" Surely he understands, but Bowles is going to be a figure piece out there.

Still, it's nice to have actual titles for coaches now. Now if we can just get rid of that "quality control" thing...
